BARLEY had his winning streak ended when down the field in the Britannia at Royal Ascot.

He was thrown in the deep end there after a gutsy success over today’s C&D, and he was unable to keep up with the big boys.

This is more his level and he clearly goes well at this track, while Saffie Osborne takes a handy 3lb off his back.

Mercurius Power is due to go up a further 4lb next week so he looks the main danger, for all this will be his third run in quick succession.

Galiac shaped as though he would benefit from the step up to a mile when a never-nearer third over shorter at Goodwood last week, so he should be in the mix.

That’s Just Dandy ran second to a horse who went close in a big handicap at the Galway Festival last time so he is worth a place on the shortlist.

Copper And Five goes well at this track and his yard has turned a corner lately after a slow start to the season.

Shine On Brendan has been in fine form at a lower level but this demands a step forward.

6.10

TIPPERARY MOON has really got his act together of late. He lost his way after a strong start to last season, but he returned to form with back-to-back wins at Yarmouth and Newmarket.

He quickened up in really taking style most recently and a 3lb rise might not be enough to prevent him bagging the hat-trick.

Melody Of Life has come up a little short off his current mark since winning at Leicester but the fitting of first-time cheekpieces could spark a bit of progress.

THE Racing League has teamed up with Sun Racing to bring you a brilliant ticket offer this summer.

Ascot Adventure had a tough trip when fourth at Goodwood last time out, having been stuck wide throughout.

He could bounce back, as could Alrehb who is back at his optimum trip after a six-furlong experiment went wrong when last seen.

Fresh Hope won a muddling race at Leicester last time but she is lightly raced and open to further improvement.

Yaaser has been a model of consistency this season but he is off a career-high mark now and the pick of his form has come at Ayr and Musselburgh.

X J RASCAL ran a screamer in defeat at Glorious Goodwood. He lost several lengths when falling out of the stalls, but he managed to make up the ground and only went down by a head.

He arguably would have been a cosy winner had he not had to use up petrol getting himself back into the race.

He is ahead of his mark at present and should take a bit of beating, provided he doesn’t fluff the start again.

Trainer Charlie Hills has had his eye on this race for The Toff for a while and the suspicion is that he is better than his opening handicap mark.

Kiss N Cuddle had more in hand than the winning margin of a head suggests at Chester four days ago and he should make another bold bid under a penalty.

Machito should benefit from the fitting of a hood, having gone close on three of his five starts so far.

Twilight Tryst won a weak race at Nottingham last time but she is going the right way and her yard has been among the winners.

Impulsive Reaction has run well all three starts and goes handicapping off a fair-looking mark.

7.10

QUEST FOR FUN is seeking a hat-trick after a pair of gutsy wins at Thirsk and Ayr.

He is the kind of horse that only just does enough when hitting the front, so you would expect further improvement after just six career starts.

He went up 4lb for his latest success but that rise is cancelled out by Oisin McSweeney's 5lb claim.

Juan Les Pins has been on a winning streak of his own and barely broke sweat at Nottingham last month.

He is much higher in the weights now but is clearly in flying form.

Mojomaker bumped into a potentially useful rival over C&D last week and a repeat of that effort would put him in the mix.

Akkeringa bounced back to form with victory at Newmarket and he has run well off higher marks in the past.

Silent Flame will be happier over this trip having been done on the line over further last time.

Acrion flopped when favourite at Sandown but is still lightly-raced and could rebound.

Sound Of Iona went down narrowly here last time and she remains in great form, but she is now 0-9 over six furlongs.

7.40

NIGHT ON EARTH was beaten in a blanket finish at Glorious Goodwood nine days ago.

He was awkward leaving the gates and his jockey briefly lost his irons, which didn’t help when the plan was to make the running, but he was only just caught in the final strides.

He is still on a winning mark and takes a drop down in class this evening.

Spring Bloom has finally found the winning habit after a string of placed efforts.

He is 7lb well-in at present so he clearly has a big chance, but this represents his stiffest challenge so far.

Mattice ran into a progressive rival at York two weeks’ ago but that was a step back in the right direction after his Haydock flop.

Alligator Alley has been hit or miss for a while but he has the ability to figure in the finish if putting his best foot forward.

Sir Henry Cotton went down fighting at Haydock but he would ideally prefer a little cut in the ground.

Faustus didn’t like soft ground last time and is interesting at a big price for Hayley Turner.

8.10

ANIMATO took the step up to a mile and a half in his stride with victory over C&D last time.

He did well to win off a muddling gallop and he should have a stronger pace to aim at this evening.

He has taken a while to get the hang of things but he is well-bred and can continue to improve over this trip.

Scampi fried his rivals at Epsom a week ago and he would have a big chance if turning up in the same sort of form.

Zealandia made a winning start for Ian Williams at York back in June and has been trained with the Racing League in mind ever since.

Emaraty Hero ran a cracker to finish second at York last time and should go well off the same mark in first-time blinkers.

Croeso Cymraeg pulled clear with the runner-up when winning at Salisbury last time but he has struggled off a mark this high in the past.

Frontispiece isn’t the most straightforward horse in training but he is well-handicapped so a decent run wouldn’t be a surprise.

8.40

BOLLIN JOAN ran better than the bare result when fifth at Ayr last time.

She has been a good servant to the Tim Easterby yard over the years and she has slipped to a tempting mark.

She has won twice at this track and she should get a strong pace to attack under regular jock David Allan.

Pledge of Honour battled to victory at Sandown last time out and is another who has won off higher marks in the past.

Matchless is a perfect 2-2 over this C&D and he is still competitively weighted off a mark of 85.

Good Birthday is another with an unbeaten record at this track but he has been badly out of form recently.

Silver Gunn caught the eye when running on late to grab third at Windsor and he should run well again off the same rating.

Jean Baptiste arrives in great form and is chasing a hat-trick, but he is unlikely to get an uncontested lead this time around.
