While at home facing Deportivo Maipu – who they are battling for the top of the table – the home fans of Independiente began to light fireworks off in the stadium.

As the home side began running on a long breakaway, fans began to shoot off bright red fireworks in a stunning display.

They continued to fire off as the home side attempted to extend their 2-1 lead deep into stoppage time.

But Maipu’s goalkeeper was able to make the save in spite of all the chaos around him.

As more and more explosives went off around the ground, Maipu began a counter attack that could have seen them equalize.

With the stands and pitch beginning to get clouded with smoke, the referee did not blow his whistle to stop the play.
