Scott Twine joins Burnley in £5m transfer from MK Dons in Vincent Kompany's first move… and Swindon land huge windfall | The Sun

SCOTT TWINE’S move to Burnley will land Swindon £700,000.

The Robins sold the midfielder, 22, to MK Dons last year and will get 20 per cent of the profit from his £5million switch to Turf Moor.

Twine has become Vincent Kompany’s first signing as new Burnley manager.

His arrival sparks the start of Kompany’s rebuild following last season’s relegation from the Premier League.

Burnley will be bidding to bounce straight back after appointing Kompany as Sean Dyche's permanent replacement earlier this month.

And Swindon will benefit from a bonus having negotiated the sell-on clause for Twine.

The attacking midfielder moves to Turf Moor from MK Dons only a year after the £300k switch from Swindon.

Twine made himself EFL League One player of the season, top-scoring with 20 goals as Liam Manning’s side finished third but lost out to Wycombe in the play-off semis.

He also contributed 13 assists and Manning believes he has the ability to become a top flight star.

The MK Dons boss says: “Scott has all the attributes to make it to the very top.

“We worked hard with him on timing his runs into the box while he has a fantastic attitude to the game.”
