Shocked Sky Sports presenter David Craig says 'I've never seen anything like this' amid bizarre Royal Ascot scene | The Sun

PUNTERS at Royal Ascot this week are donning their finest top hat and tails, cocktail dresses and sunglasses in the summer sun.

Temperatures have been baking at the Berkshire track.

But it turns out even the horses need some extra protection from the sun at times.

Step forward Duca Di Como and his snazzy sunglasses.

The eight-year-old gelding looked every inch the cool dude as he strode out for morning work ahead of his run in Saturday's Wokingham.

Sun Racing's Matt Chapman has actually written before about why horses should wear sunnies.

In National Hunt racing we see often hurdles or fences being omitted due to low sun.

Flat horses don't have that problem, but they can still benefit from a little protection.

The hilarious scene left one of Chappers' Sky Sports Racing colleagues dumbfounded as he saw the horse coming out.

David Craig said: "We've never seen anything like this. Take a look at this.

"If you're talking about fashion – Duca Di Como, a horse that's over from Norway – look at these for a pair of sunglasses!

"These are as good as you will ever see.

"Something that I have never seen on a horse before.

"When we spoke to the rider he said it was to keep the glare from the sun out of his eyes."

The horse might need some of that tunnel vision to triumph on the weekend.

He is currently a 33-1 shot to triumph in the big handicap, although goes there in form having won his past two races.
