I made a huge mistake while giving my council house garden a makeover… it will cost me big | The Sun

A MUM has told how she made a huge mistake while giving her council house garden a makeover.

Tiktoker Beth, 23, has been transforming her neglected garden – and decided to remove decorative stones from an area near her shed.

She spent hours clearing the space that she is now making into a little flower garden.

But when she posted a video of the process, viewers were quick to point out that she had made a huge mistake.

Because Beth lives in a council home she must leave the property as it was.

She explained: “A few people suggested to get rid of my stones on Facebook Marketplace so that’s exactly what I did.

“Then my mum messages me and I think ‘s**t’.

“I have just gotten rid of loads of stones from my property that actually don’t belong to me.

“This means that when I do give the property back to them I’m going to have to replace these stones.

“I have to leave the property exactly how I was given it, even though I think the stones are ugly as hell.

“Lesson learnt – will not get rid of anything else in the garden that does not belong to me.”

It means Beth will have to buy stones to replace them if she wants to move out.

It comes after a YouTuber told how he transformed his mum’s council house garden on a budget.

Admitting that they “neglected” the garden for months, Nick Richards said he finally decided to do something about it for his mum and their three greyhound dogs.

He took four dump runs to get rid of the garbage in the garden before removing all the weeds to make “space for new plants and flowers”.

After jet washing all the tiles and stones to get rid of “years of grime”, he then took a few paint brushes to give the fences a fresh coat.

The big job of the garden was to build two new patio areas, which meant he had to take a trip to a hardware store to get some weed control, sharp sand, patio slabs and stones.

And, eventually, he did some reshuffling of the patio tiles in a bid to make it look neat and keep it dirt-free from the flower pots.

He later also invested in a greenhouse to give them the space to grow new flowers and vegetables, too.

In total, Nick spent £500 on the makeover, leaving his mum very happy with the results.
