Stewards' Cup runner-by-runner guide

CHIL CHIL 3

CHIL out. Held her own in Group 1 company last season and needed her comeback from ten months off at Newbury last time. Likes this trip and place claims despite her big weight.

JUSTANOTHERBOTTLE 3

JUST a bit old. Second in this way back in 2018 from 6lb lower than today and his past two runs have been encouraging. We know he likes this trip and track but is getting on a bit.

GREAT AMBASSADOR 4

GREAT chance. Was unlucky in a Newbury Group 3 last time when hampered and was second in the Ayr Gold Cup off 1lb lower last season. Trip suits and won’t be far away.

COACHELLO 2

CATCH Coach. Solid form in France and makes his debut for an Irish yard here. He stays well so watch for a market move.

MR WAGYU 4

YU bet. Won the consolation race for this easily last year and scored at Epsom’s Derby meeting before a good effort at Royal Ascot. Battled to score at The Curragh last time and should run well.

LAMPANG 3

LAMP bright. Has won two of his past three and picked up well when scoring at Pontefract. He can improve on last year’s 11th in this race.

SAINT LAWRENCE 2

SAINT sinner. Has been running in Group races this year with little success and struggled again at Newbury last time. Trip suits but looks a little high in the weights.

COMMANCHE FALLS 3

COMM on. Won this in the mud last year and only 2lb higher now. Reared in the stalls at Royal Ascot and can miss the break but he couldn’t easily bounce back.

MAKANAH 3

MAK has knack. Good Listed fourth at York over 5f but this trip suits well. Hasn’t won for two years but is a regular in the places.

METHOD 2

METHOD madness. Lightly-raced but not won for two years and didn’t show much at Newbury last time. Questions to answer.

BATWAN 2

BAT fink. Poor run in the Wokingham but better effort in France last time and likes this trip. Looks a bit high in the weights.

POPMASTER 4

MASTER plan. Cracking second in the Wokingham and 3lb rise looks fair. Trip ideal, goes on any ground and has what could be a handy draw.

REGIONAL 5

REG on a plate. Finished well over 5f at Donny but this trip will suit better. Has a rails draw and Ryan Moore on board. Ran well in a hot race at Epsom in June and is lower in the weights. Can go close.

TABDEED 4

TAB smokin. Knocked sideways at start of Wokingham and had no luck in running again at Ascot latest. Likes this trip and has ability. Rails draw a plus.

GULLIVER 3

GULL has wings. Beaten a neck in this last year and off the same mark today. Started this season well but was poor in the Wokingham. Has a good draw so can outrun odds.

SUMMERGHAND 3

SUMMER lovin. Won this two years ago from 8lb higher and some promise when fifth in the Wokingham last time. His liking for the track is a big plus.

INVER PARK 4

PARK life. Improver who took the Buckingham Palace at Royal Ascot over 7f after two wins at this trip. That stamina is a plus and there’s more to come. Every chance.

FIRST FOLIO 3

FOL of it. Cheekpieces go on after a solid Wokingham sixth from a bad draw. Looks capable of better and is an each-way player.

WHENTHEDEALINSDONE 4

DEAL me in. Good form over 5f including when unlucky after being hampered at Ascot latest. Likes this track and longer trip should be fine. Player.

GOOD EYE 1

GOOD bye. Swedish raider, has a German Listed win on his CV but struggled at Deauville last time. Hard to fancy.

RATHBONE 3

BAD to Bone. Back to form with a gutsy Hamilton win. Best over this trip and goes on any ground. Looks a big price if repeating that.

TYPHOON TEN 2

TEN not perfect. Solid form at lower levels and had the saddle slip when last seen in a Ayr Gold Cup in September. Tough race for a comeback.

ANNAF 2

AF the pace. Solid second in the Chipchase over this trip at Newcastle after a fair effort at York in a big field. Creeping up the weights now.

TINTO 2

DARK Tint. Good win at Thirsk followed by two solid Ripon efforts, all over this trip. Goes up in class here and has struggled in this race before.

RAATEA 3

TEA party. Hit top form to win on AW at Newcastle last time and a 6lb rise for that is fair. Has placed form in hot handicaps and could hit the frame.

ABOVE 1

ABOVE below. Hit and miss this season but best over this trip and is below his last winning mark. Needs to raise his game at this level.

ABLE KANE 1

NOT Able. Best recent efforts over 7f and at lower levels than this. This looks a bit tough off a rising mark.

ZARGUN 1

ZAR wars. Sole UK win came over 5f and he’s been struggling for a while. Shouldn’t be up to this standard.

Templegate's Stewards' Cup tip

REGIONAL can become a national hero in the Stewards’ Cup.

Ryan Moore takes the ride on this flyer who will love the 6f trip after going close over shorter at Donny last time.

He’s drawn high, which should be perfect, but the pick of the low stalls could be Popmaster who went close in the Wokingham at Royal Ascot and is on a fair weight.

Great Ambassador has Saffie Osborne taking off a valuable 3lb and likes a big field. He’s a threat along with Inver Park who is looking for four wins on the spin.
