Nunthorpe runner-by-runner guide
EQUALITY
EQUAL doesn’t add up. Landed a Sandown Group 3 over this trip before hating Goodwood for the third visit running. Goes on any ground but needs to improve to score in this company.
KHAADEM
KHAA has an engine. Fourth in this last year and was a shock Group 1 Jubilee Stakes winner at Royal Ascot before being put in his place at Newmarket last time. Could nick a place on ground he likes.
LIVE IN THE DREAM
DREAM on. Good handicapper over this trip, especially on soft ground. Has been placed in Group races but needs a lot more for this.

This 16-1 chance for a trainer who loves York looks a huge danger
AL a pal. Won a big handicap here in May and followed up with a smooth Listed success at Haydock. Likes quick ground and his track form is a plus. This is his toughest test yet but he has place prospects.
TEES SPIRIT
SPIRIT weak. Won the Epsom Dash last year and has a Listed victory on his CV. Has looked below par this season and looks out of his depth.
TWILIGHT CALLS
CALL collect. Has progressed from a handicapper to a proper Group horse who went close in the King’s Stand over this trip at Royal Ascot. He goes on quick ground and has solid place claims.
AESOP’S FABLES
FABLE fairy story. Lightly raced but hasn’t matched his two-year-old form this season and was held in a Listed contest at Newbury last time. Needs this drop in distance to work wonders.
BRADSELL
HARD Sell. Last seen winning the King’s Stand ahead of Highfield Princess at Royal Ascot with a bit in the tank despite drifting across the track. Has lots of speed and likes decent ground. Should have more to come and is a major player.
GET AHEAD
AHEAD behind. Won a Listed race over 6f at Haydock in May before a good second in France. Was below par at Sandown last time but is better than that. Needs to raise her game in this company.
HIGHFIELD PRINCESS
HIGH and mighty. Won this pulling a bus 12 months ago and has been in fine form since with two cracking places at Royal Ascot before a blistering success at Glorious Goodwood. She goes on any ground, loves this trip and this course brings out her best. Looks hard to beat.
LADIES CHURCH
PRAY for Church. Saves best for this trip and won a good Group 2 at The Curragh last season. Started with a Naas Listed success before two modest runs heading here. Quicker ground will help but looks short at this level.
MAKAROVA
ALL Ova. Listed winner at best who was held in a Goodwood Group 2 last time out. Likes this trip on fast ground but needs improvement even to make the frame.
NYMPHADORA
DOR closed. Has won a couple of Listed contests over this course and distance but found a Glorious Goodwood Group 2 beyond her last time. Has shown her best with some cut in the ground and this looks a tall order.
DRAMATISED
DRAMA queen. Has few miles on the clock and kicked off this season with an improved effort to win a Haydock Group 2 in May. She then disappointed when fancied for the King’s Stand from a bad draw. Could bounce back and has an each-way chance.
QUEEN ME
QUEEN dethroned. Has done all her racing over longer distances including when a fair sixth in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot latest. Likely to be outpaced dropping back to the minimum trip.
BIG EVS
BIG Revs. Has been supplemented for this after his battling win in the Molecomb Stakes at Glorious Goodwood. That was a step forward from his excellent Windsor Castle victory at Royal Ascot. Two-year-olds can win this and he’s getting lumps of weights from his older rivals. Can have a big say.
Templegate's Nunthorpe tip
HIGHFIELD PRINCESS can defend her Nunthorpe crown.
John Quinn’s flyer was brilliant 12 months ago when hammering her rivals.
Her form has been excellent since with two good runs at Royal Ascot before a smooth success at Glorious Goodwood last time.
She handles any ground and this is her best trip. It will take a mighty effort to take her title.
Big Evs gets a whopping 25lb from some of his rivals as a two-year-old and connections shelled out to supplement him after big wins at Royal Ascot and Goodwood.
Mick Appleby’s hope has loads of pace and can go close.
