BBC Breakfast viewers spot tension as Naga Munchetty rolls her eyes at co-star

Naga corrects Charlie after he repeats her exact comments

BBC Breakfast fans have called out host Naga Munchetty after some of the swipes she made at her co-host Charlie Stayt on Thursday morning.

As the duo were reading out the latest headlines and segments within the papers, Charlie discovered one supermarket chain had ranked customers’ favourite sandwiches to buy.

Naga commented: “It is very different because I think you would buy a posher sandwich or a more intricate sandwich if it was already made for you than you would make at home.”

Agreeing, Charlie then revealed the list with the top being prawn mayonnaise as Naga pulled a face showing her disgust.

After he’d finished reading the ranking, he added: “I have to say, it is a very different thing, the sandwich you choose to buy off a shelf, to one you might make at home.”

However, Naga was quick to highlight he was repeating what she had already said as she quipped: “That’s what I just said?”

He replied: “No, I’m agreeing with you.”

The BBC star was clearly unimpressed with her co-host as she rolled her eyes at him and jerked her body back.

It wasn’t long before viewers took to Twitter to call out Naga for her behaviour as

@johncornelius01 commented: “Naga’s eye-rolls off the scale this morning as Charlie mansplains the ins and outs of the great British sandwich. Good to see such heart-warming chemistry between presenters.”

@OliverGoblin added: “@BBCBreakfast @BBCNews what is going on this morning with Charlie and Naga? There is certainly tension this morning…”

@philippaandpj tweeted: “@BBCBreakfast it’s always slightly awkward as a viewer when Naga gets irritated with Charlie and rolls her eyes etc. I wish they were more professional and kept all that off-screen.”

With @tracy_in_uk saying: “@BBCBreakfast The bickering on a Thursday is always difficult to watch.”

However, this wasn’t the only time that the duo appeared to have a small spat on-screen either.

Earlier on in the show, the two hosts were speaking about Paddington Bear stamps being released to mark his 65th anniversary.

As images of the famous bear popped up, Naga said: “He hasn’t aged has he?”

Charlie replied: “No, that’s the joy of being a cartoon character, isn’t it,” as Naga quipped: “I wouldn’t know.”

Turning to weather presenter Carol Kirkwood to get her thoughts on Charlie’s unusual comment, the 61-year-old wasn’t keen on saying her piece.

Carol added: “I’m not getting involved in your domestics!”
