‘He doesn’t fear any man, ESPECIALLY not a cruiserweight!’: Tommy Fury claims his brother Tyson is NOT the reason undisputed heavyweight title fight with Oleksandr Usyk has collapsed – and he says the bout ‘will happen’
- Fury and Usyk were in negotiations for an undisputed heavyweight title clash
- The fight appeared to be off, with the boxers unable to agree to rematch terms
- Speaking on Soccer AM, Tommy said Tyson ‘does not like Uysk at the minute’
Tommy Fury has claimed his brother Tyson is not the reason the undisputed heavyweight title fight with Oleksandr Usyk has collapsed.
The proposed fight appeared to be off on Wednesday, with the boxers seemingly unable to agree to rematch terms.
Usyk’s promoter, Alex Krassyuk, told talkSPORT that his fighter broke off negotiations with Fury because his rival was ‘putting so many obstacles in front of making the deal.’
But speaking on Soccer AM on Saturday, the Love Island star insisted the bout ‘will happen’, but said the Gypsy King wasn’t to blame for why the world title fight collapsed.
‘He does not like Uysk at the minute. Listen, there’s a lot of politics involved in boxing, but I want to say this first-hand,’ Tommy, 23, said.

Oleksandr Usyk’s promoter said that his fighter broke off negotiations with the Gypsy King
‘The reason why this fight isn’t getting made isn’t down to Tyson at all. He wants to fight and he’s proved to everybody… he’s gone and fought Deontay Wilder after three years out.’
He continued: ‘He’ll fight any man. He doesn’t fear any man, especially not a cruiserweight who can’t do anything anyway.
‘You know he’s too small. What’s he going to do? It’s not Tyson’s fault. I think all of these fights will happen, but it just takes a while to get made.’
Frank Warren, Fury’s British promoter, said the big stumbling block centred around a dispute over the split of earnings from a rematch.
Warren added that he hoped negotiations can resume but time was running out for a deal to be reached for what would be one of the biggest fights in a generation.
The last heavyweight to be the undisputed world champion was Lennox Lewis in 1999-2000.
Usyk, the WBA, WBO and IBF champion, went on social media last week to accept Fury’s terms for a proposed April 29 fight in London, notably a 70-30 split of earnings from the bout in favour of Fury, the WBC titleholder.
They were given a deadline of April 1 by the WBA to officially agree to a deal, otherwise Usyk would be ordered to undertake a mandatory title defence.

It comes after Warren made a sensational claim that Tyson could announce his retirement from boxing again.
He told Seconds Out: ‘Listen, he may retire – I don’t know what he wants to do. He’ll do whatever he wants to do. He’s the guy getting in the ring.
‘Everyone sitting outside making their comments, I find it quite insulting.
‘Tyson Fury who went to Germany, done all the things that Usyk done, beat the best guy of his generation (then champion Wladimir Klitschko), went to America and beat the hardest punching guy (Deontay Wilder).’
