TRAINER Saeed Bin Suroor is plotting a comeback for a wonderhorse last seen almost 1,000 days ago.
The Godolphin-owned Military March was fourth in the 2020 2000 Guineas and at one time among the favourites for that year's Epsom Derby.
But injury has curtailed his once promising career and the last time he raced was on January 21 two years ago when finishing eighth in the Group 2 Singspiel Stakes in Meydan.
The now-six-year-old was unbeaten going into Guineas three years ago having won the Group 3 Dubai Autumn Stakes on his second start.
A host of familiar names including Al Suhail, recent Clipper Handicap winner Ropey Guest and Golden Mile hero Rohan were in behind.
But the promising career on the track never really materialised after that, despite Bin Suroor insisting the injury that ruled him out of the Derby was 'not serious'.
The Newmarket handler insists Military March, a son of New Approach, is working well again now and set to return to competition next month.
He said: "He worked on Monday and he worked well. He still needs time but he’s getting there now.
"We will find a race for him in early October I think, before we start thinking big. Maybe we could take him out to Bahrain, if he’s good enough.
"It’s been a shame he hasn’t been able to run that much but he’s a nice horse.

Racing cash pot Dubai remains on the cards, as does the Bahrain International Trophy run in November.
Hector Crouch rode 20-1 Military March to fourth in the 2020 2000 Guineas, which was won by 10-1 Kameko.
One of the horses still thriving from that renewal is star sprinter Kinross, who's claimed the Lennox and City Of York Stakes this season under Frankie Dettori.
With almost £1.6million in career earnings, Kinross is now 11-1 fav for the British Champions Sprint Stakes on October 21.
And he could provide Frankie Dettori with his final ever ride if he goes for the big sprint at Sha Tin on December 10.
