He told Football Insider: “I don’t understand that transfer it's very strange.

“Arsenal haven’t learned their lesson with transfers, Kai Havertz is not a clinical striker.

“He is not an out-and-out number nine, which what Arsenal need as they currently have Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah but require an upgrade on them.

Manchester City will pip Arsenal to the signature of Declan Rice.

That's according to former West Ham ace Nigel Reo-Coker, who told the BBC: "Where is he going?

"That is going to be interesting because it’s the midfielders market this year.

"Personally, I think he wants to go to Arsenal, but I think West Ham won’t make it easy for him.

"There is real interest from Manchester City too with the situation with [Ilkay] Gundogan and [Bernardo] Silva.

"I do personally believe there is strong interest from there, but I could see him going to Man City if I’m honest. That’s just my personal opinion."

Tom Davies has quit boyhood club Everton after turning down a new contract.

The 24-year-old was offered the opportunity to stay and fight for his place at Goodison Park.

But after starting just four Premier League games last season, the former England youth international has opted to move elsewhere in search of more regular minutes.

The midfielder became the Merseysiders' youngest ever captain in 2018, when he skippered his side in a League Cup clash with Rotherham aged just 20.

Davies went on to wear the armband on a further five occasions in the Premier League.

    Ward-Prose's Prem return

West Ham have been linked with the England international during the summer transfer window.

According to the Independent, Fulham have now entered the mix for the midfielder's signature.

  • Chelsea's Mount stance

Chelsea won't sell Mason Mount unless their valuation of the England midfielder is met – despite his contract situation.

Mount has a year left on his contract at Stamford Bridge and is keen to move on to pastures new.

United have had two bids rejected for the midfielder, who Chelsea – according to The Guardian – won't sell for a penny less than £70million.

  • Walk the line

Kop chief Jurgen Klopp has been urged to swoop for Kyle Walker – whose future with Manchester City is up in the air.

Former Liverpool midfielder Charlie Adam told 888sport: "I think playing Trent in midfield is something Liverpool might want to look at.

"He’s having a big impact on matches, as we saw for England this week, and I think he’s the best passer at the football club in terms of his range and what types of passes he can play.

"If you can get that from a central position, then it opens up everything for everybody else.

“If they’re looking to do that, then they’d need to bring another right back in.

"It looks like Kyle Walker is possibly going to leave Manchester City – that’s someone for me who they could try and have a look at".

  • Toffees Turmoil

Tom Davies has left boyhood club Everton after turning down a new contract.

The midfielder played 179 games for the Toffees after joining their academy aged 11.

But he's decided to move on to pastures new.

Everton's director of football Kevin Thelwell said: "We respect his decision and thank him for his service and commitment.

"We offered Tom a new contract but he feels he has reached the stage in his career where he needs regular first-team football and, as a result, he wants to look at alternative options."

  • Manchester United starlet confirms exit

Zidane Iqbal has issued an emotional farewell message to Manchester United fans ahead of his move to FC Utrecht.

The midfielder wrote on Instagram: “Emotions often cannot be expressed in words, however, I will try my best.

“Manchester United has been my home since I was five years old. Alongside my family, this club has developed me into the person that I am today.

“From the Cliff to Carrington then to the Theatre of Dreams, I have so many incredible memories of my fifteen years associated with this amazing club.

“I have had the opportunity to play with so many teammates that I will now always call friends, and worked with coaches who always supported me in so many different ways.

“There are too many people to thank. Kitmen, physios, teachers, chiefs, nutritionists, security staff, coaches and everyone else in between, they’ve all played their role in making me the player that I am today.

“They know who they are and know how much they mean to me and my family. We’ll be forever grateful.

“The time is right to go and take on a new challenge. It is one that I cannot wait for and I’ll be applying myself with the same level of desire, determination and dedication that has taken me this far in my career.

“This is a perfect opportunity and I cannot wait to get started.”

  • United told they're overpaying for Mount

Manchester United have been told not to pay more than £40million to sign Mason Mount from Chelsea.

Ex-Aston Villa star Gabriel Agbonlahor told Football Insider: "I’d honestly say he’s worth £40m maximum.

“If Chelsea ask for much more than that, I think Man United should put the phone down – because they aren’t being serious.

“Mount has been out of form, his stats aren’t great. Chelsea don’t want to give him a new contract, so surely it suits them to sell him?

“Man United should pull out if they can’t get something sorted, and that leaves Chelsea stuck with a player who is going to be available for free.

“I think Chelsea will have to stop being stubborn later in this window. £40m is about right, but even that is a lot of money for someone who has been out of form.”

  • Rice prediction made

Declan Rice will snub the interest of Manchester United and Arsenal to join Premier League champions Manchester City, Sam Allardyce believes.

When asked to predict Rice's new club, Big Sam told the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast Man City – and someone will go the other way.

"If I know Moysey [West Ham boss David Moyes], there would have to be a player in the deal for him and that would mean it would be easier for the club who is buying him because they wouldn’t have to pay David Sullivan’s asking price.

"It would be over £100million in total but it would be so much under that if they include a player that would take the deal over £100m. And then David gets a new player he needs."
