Marco Veratti latest to be linked with Saudi

Veratti looks as though he could be on the verge of a move to Saudi Arabia.

While his PSG team-mate Kylian Mbappe looks like he has rejected an £11.6million-a-week move to Al-Hilal, the Italy midfielder may now join the club.

Al-Hilal are currently offering £25million but it is understood it will take more for PSG to accept an offer.

Veratti has played for Italy 55 times and has been at PSG since 2012.

He has often been considered among the greatest midfielders in the world, so joining the Saudi league aged 30 comes as a surprise.

    Red Devils chasing back-up keeper

Manchester United could still target Feyenoord keeper Justin Bijlow.

Andre Onana’s arrival to succeed David de Gea as first-choice stopper hasn’t stopped United’s interest in a new back-up.

Dean Henderson could seal a permanent move to Nottingham Forest, leaving 37-year-old Tom Heaton as the current No2.

United are considering Holland star Bijlow, 25, and Fenerbahce’s Altay Bayindir.

But Urawa Reds and Japan keeper Zion Suzuki has reportedly rejected the Red Devils, partly due to his Olympics dream.

Mbappe has 'never considered' Saudi move

Kylian Mbappe has REFUSED to discuss a move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal, according to reports.

Earlier this week, Paris Saint-Germain accepted a world-record £259MILLION offer from the Middle East outfit as they look to offload the French forward this summer.

The Ligue 1 champions are keen to sell Mbappe as they believe he has a deal in place to join Real Madrid in 2024 when his contract expires.

But while PSG have accepted the bid from Al-Hilal, L’Equipe understand the player is not even entertaining the move.

His representatives have reportedly declined meetings with the Saudi side as Mbappe has “never considered” them to be an option.

And this stance seems to point towards him staying in Paris until next summer.

That is despite Al-Hilal offering him a remarkable £11.6M-A-WEEK in wages.

The £259m fee would also break the transfer record previously held by Neymar when he moved from Barcelona to PSG for £198m in 2017.

A host of stars have already moved to Saudi Arabia this summer – including Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante, Edouard Mendy, Roberto Firmino, Riyad Mahrez, Kalidou Koulibaly and Jordan Henderson.

Al-Hilal 'close on top Liverpool target Verratti'

Liverpool have suffered a transfer blow with Al-Hilal closing in on one of Jurgen Klopp's top midfield targets, reports suggest.

The Reds are currently undergoing a major revamp in the middle with James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain having all departed already after their contracts expired last month.

Fabinho also looks set for a £40million move to Al-Ittihad, while captain Jordan Henderson is poised to rejoin former team-mate Steven Gerrard at Al-Ettifaq.

And it seems like Saudi Arabia is ready to cause the Merseysiders even more grief to their summer plans.

That is because Al-Hilal are close to signing Paris Saint-Germain star Marco Verratti.

According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, negotiations between the Saudis and PSG are at an "advanced stage".

The French champions have previously demanded at least €30million (£26m) for Verratti.

Al-Hilal are offering the midfielder a three-year contract and the necessary paperwork will be prepared soon.

The Italy international has been part of a nine-man shortlist Klopp drew up for reinforcement in the middle of the park.

  • Man Utd needed Mount – Fernandes

Bruno Fernandes knew Mason Mount was the right man to help Manchester United back to the top.

When Mount, 24, was announced as the Red Devils’ new signing, Fernandes posted a picture of the two of them confronting each other in a game against Chelsea.

He captioned it: “Why did you take so long to sign!”

Now the new Man Utd captain, 28, will be putting an arm round his new £55million team-mate as they link up to try and fire the club to the Premier League summit next season.

And Fernandes believes that fiery side of Mount is just what the team needs.

He said: “We need that aggression and passion, we need players to be like that in games.

“These are the kind of players that I like to play against and even more to have in my side.

“Now, I will do everything I can to defend him.”

Manager Erik ten Hag has already expressed his excitement at the prospect of Mount, Fernandes and Casemiro linking up next term.

Mason Mount hassurprised with his ability and "incredible character" while Lisandro Martínez's aggression is "crazy".

That's the verdict of club-mate Alvaro Fernandez amid Manchester United's USA tour.

Left-back Fernandez, 20, is tipped for another loan after his temporary spell at Preston last season.

The Spaniard told Diario AS of boss Erik ten Hag's pre-season work: "The coach is changing the team. New signings have arrived and the squad now has a new lease of life.

"Mason Mount is a really great player, but on the pitch, he has an incredible character.

"And then there is Lisandro Martínez, who arrived last summer and has a level of aggression that seems crazy.”
