Joe for Nico is a no-go

Tottenham have failed with a part-exchange bid for Roma defender Nicolo Zaniolo, according to reports.

Antonio Conte appears keen to add another centre-back to his bolstered squad despite having already secured Barcelona star Clement Lenglet on loan.

And Roma man Zaniolo, 23, has been identified as a target for Spurs for some time.

According to Calcio Mercato, the Lilywhites have been interested in the young Italian since Jose Mourinho's time at the club.

Ironically, now it is Conte in charge of Tottenham and Mourinho coaching Zaniolo at Roma.

Spurs have tried to prize the defender away with a bid of £25million plus Wales international Joe Rodon.

Chelsea & Spurs 'baulk at £40 Allan valuation'

Newcastle have reportedly been approached by Chelsea and Tottenham for star winger Allan Saint-Maximin.

But the London rivals are refusing to match the Magpies' £40million asking price for the French forward.

It was claimed last month how the 25-year-old was on Spurs' radar with Antonio Conte looking to bolster his attack.

And it was also stated that the ex-Nice ace has grown frustrated by the wage structure at St James' Park with his head turned by the prospect of bigger salaries elsewhere.

Despite chipping in with just five goals and as many assists in 35 Premier League outings last term, Saint-Maximin is believed to be a wanted man this summer.

According to The Athletic, Chelsea, Spurs and a number of European sides have made enquiries to sign the Les Bleus youth international.

But the clubs have balked at the Toon's £40m valuation of Saint-Maximin.

Utd clear favourites ahead of Chelsea to sing Frenkie

Frenkie De Jong's reported claims he'd rather join Chelsea than Manchester United doesn't wash with the bookies.

Coral rate the Barcelona midfielder 6/4 to join his old Ajax boss Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford and 3/1 for a switch to Stamford Bridge.

The main stumbling block on a deal – of around £63million – seems to be the Holland star's reluctance to leave the Nou Camp.

    Serg of interest from London

Arsenal and Chelsea have contacted Lazio about midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, reports in Italy claim.

Calcio Merca say the London giants admire the Serbia star's box-to-box style and goal record.

But Calciomercato, suggest the Gunners, in particular, have been put off by the Serie A club's valuation – of around £60million to £68m.

Milinkovic-Savic netted 11 times for Lazio last term, having joined from Genk in 2015.

Atleti ace Llorente: Coaches will decide on Ron

Marcos Llorente has revealed the link with Cristiano Ronaldo has not been discussed at all in the Atletico Madrid dressing room. writes ALEX COLE.

Reports emerged earlier this week that Ronaldo, 37, had convinced Diego Simeone to bring him to the Spanish club.

The Portugal captain is desperate to leave Manchester United this summer and play Champions League football.

The forward still has one year remaining on his Old Trafford contract but is yet to return for pre-season training with the Red Devils.

But Llorente told Cadena SER radio on Wednesday that his team-mates haven't bothered to discuss the prospect of Ron at the Wanda Metropolitano.

The 27-year-old said: "We don't talk about Cristiano Ronaldo in the locker room, not at all.

"We all know how he plays and what he's achieved, but it's the coaching staff and the club who should decide.

"People talk about so many names that don't end up arriving. I try to ignore it because people talk too much.

"In other summers, similar things have happened with players of that level. It's all smoke.

"Until it's certain, we won't talk about players who aren't at our club. If he comes, there'll be time to talk about it…"

Kounde left out of Sevilla squad

Chelsea have received a major transfer boost as Jules Kounde has been left out of Sevilla's pre-season squad.

Kounde, 23, has been among the Blues' top targets since last year and it looks like he may finally be joining them as he was not included on the Andalusians' list for the upcoming tour of Portugal.

SunSport exclusively revealed the defender is finally on his way from Seville and due to undergo a medical after the West Londoners offered £51million plus £4m in add-ons.

The France international is also set for a mammoth salary of over £10m per year.

The 23-year-old said farewell to Sevilla fans after leaving the club's training ground on Wednesday.

And the Frenchman reportedly hopes a deal with Chelsea is agreed this day with personal terms already sorted.

Chelsea have this afternoon increased their offer for Jules Kounde to £55m in order to get the deal done ahead of Barcelona, report the Evening Standard.

The Blues are concerned that the defender will favour a move to Barca if the LaLiga club manage to get their finances in order.

    Red Devils linked with Pavard

Manchester United are the latest club to be linked with a move for Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard.

The French international's time at the Allianz Arena appears up with agent Pini Zahavi actively searching for a new club.

Chelsea appear to have already passed on the 26-year-old, but United are thought to be entertaining the prospect given Pavard's versatility in the back line.

Reports earlier this week suggested that Erik ten Hag would not be able to target a right-back until Aaron Wan-Bissaka had been sold.

But French publication L'Equipe understand that Pavard sees his future at centre-back, and wants assurances of a first team starting spot.

Juventus and Atletico Madrid are also considering making a bid for the player.

The Belgium midfielder wants out of Leicester, and is set to discuss his immediate future with Brendan Rodgers this week.

A bidding war for the 25-year-old was anticipated this summer with the Gunners and Manchester United long-term suitors yet negotiations have failed to materialise.

However, according to CBS Sports reporter Ben Jacobs, the Londoners will now look at the prospect of adding the Foxes star to their ranks.

“The player wants Arsenal and if Arsenal made a bid the deal will be done relatively quickly,” he told HITC.

“But, as of yet, Arsenal haven’t moved onto Tielemans. We all know that Zinchenko was the priority and that deal is now done.

“Tielemans has a big decision to make. He doesn’t want to stay at Leicester, that is my understanding of the situation. And he’ll have further talks reiterating that this week.”

The 22-year-old, who can play anywhere across the back line, has eight caps for his country, and departs the Allianz Arena having made ten appearances for Bayern.

Once confirmed, the 29-year-old will become big-spending Forest's 11th summer signing.
