GARY WILSON was left red-faced after thinking he had lost to Fan Zhengyi in the Shanghai Masters.
The snooker star offered his hand to his opponent thinking he had been beaten 5-1.
However the match was best-of-11 frames, not nine as Wilson had thought.
After being informed of his mistake by the referee Wilson walked sheepishly back to his seat and the match continued.
He allowed himself a little smile and even took the next frame to give himself a chance of a fightback.
But Fan then hit a break of 61 to seal the match 6-2.
