Watch Velez Sarsfield boss given RED CARD for cynical foul after his goalkeeper made outrageous blunder leading to goal | The Sun

FOOTBALL is well and truly back and with it has already come some hilarious altercations.

Two of which have come from the same game – Velez Sarsfield versus Godoy Cruz in the Argentina Primera division.

The game got off to a stunning start as the Velez Sarsfield goalkeeper Lucas Hoyos dropped a massive howler to gift the opposition team a goal early on.

After a defensive header from a deep free-kick which seemed to take all the danger out of the set-piece, Hoyos ended up mishandling the ball.

The consequent spinning of the ball gave Pier Barios all the invitation he needed to prod the ball away from the keeper and poke home into an empty net.

Later in the game, Velez boss Alexander Medina was sent off for a crazy foul on Godoy's Martias Ramirez.

As two players battled for the ball and Ramirez was about to run clear, Medina decided to stick his leg out when on the edge of his technical area.

This action tripped up the player, giving referee Pablo Echavarria no choice but to send the manager up to the stands.

The crazy match ended in a 1-1 draw where former Atletico Madrid captain Diego Godin equalised in the 15th minute.

Following the result, Velez have now drawn four games on the bounce and sit down in 23rd in the league.
