Wrexham transfer news odds: Who Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney could splash the cash on after promotion to League Two | The Sun

WREXHAM are now just one win away from the Football League after Tuesday night's 3-0 win over Yeovil Town.

A packed Racecourse Ground cheered off their new bunch of heroes as they went four points clear of challengers Notts County with just two games to go.

That should seal their passage back into the Football League and a place in League Two for next season.

Promotion was the main aim of owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney when they bought the club back in November 2020.

And while that has, rightly, been the main focus, those behind the scenes will be planning already for what's to come and how they can push again for the pair's ultimate dream of Premier League football.

We told you yesterday that the Red Dragons were as short as 3/1 with Ladbrokes to secure back-to-back promotions by progressing beyond League Two next season.

And whether it's England's fourth tier or higher, the recruitment side and the financial firepower they hold will prove vital in that quest.

With Erling Haaland signing a 100/1 shot revealed by Casinosenligne.com, how likely is it that the owners will splash the cash on a big name signing, and who might that be?

Ben Foster – Wrexham – 5/6

Foster was convinced out of retirement for the final stretch of the National League season at Wrexham having hung his gloves up last summer.

The Cycling GK has again shown behind-the-scenes footage with his famous GoPro and the rise in views playing here was going to bring.

But he's brought every bit of his Premier League experience with him, crucially saving a last-minute penalty in the top of the table clash with Notts County recently.

He's odds on to continue the journey with the club into League Two.

Alfie May – Cheltenham Town – 5/2

The 29-year-old has been linked heavily with Wrexham for almost a year now.

He has 16 goals and three assists – the joint-fifth highest in League One – for a Cheltenham side in the bottom half of the table.

League One high fliers Peterborough Town are also understood to be interested which could prove a tough stumbling block, particularly if they earn promotion.

Andy Cook – Bradford City – 5/1

He's the League Two leading scorer and is another likely to be linked with a move in the summer.

The 32-year-old is out of contract at the end of the campaign and isn't likely to be short of offers.

Bradford are in the play off places at present, so much could depend on their league status next season.

But signing the division's top scorer has worked in the past, with Paul Mullin now a household name and huge player for the Dragons, with Cook potentially securing one final big pay day.

Jonson Clarke-Harris – Peterborough Town – 16/1

Sticking with the theme of league top scorers and Jonson Clarke-Harris has had another stellar season at Peterborough.

He has 25 goals in the league this season and is clear at the top of the scoring charts.

Sure to have his fair share of offers this summer from clubs higher in the league pyramid.

Would be a statement signing if they pulled it off but surely unlikely at this stage.

Chuba Akpom – Middlesbrough – 20/1
Speaking of statement signings, why not go for the Championship top scorer!?

He's big odds for a reason after a stunning campaign under Michael Carrick which could end with promotion.

Really would show financial muscle if managed to pull it off and 20/1 probably fair.
