A Place in the Sun buyers bag cheeky deal on upside down house

A Place in the Sun viewers were left stunned when a mother and daughter landed a "cheeky" bargain on their dream holiday home — with a bizarre request from the vendor.

Channel 4 property expert Danni Menzies was tasked with helping Frances and her daughter Carina find their perfect holiday home in Nerja, Spain.

Fran, who was armed with a maximum budget of £230,000, was looking for a two-bedroom home that was large enough for her family to enjoy and a short walk from the beach and local amenities.

Despite never visiting the Costa Del Sol region before, the pair were taken aback by the "absolutely stunning" area as Danni showed the buyers five beautiful homes on the island.

But with homes closer to the beach being "too small" for her family and some other properties just not being close enough to shops and bars, in the end, the pair fell for property number three.

The two-bed house in Alimijara, which was dubbed an "upside down" house, featured access to a communal pool and a terrace around the outside.

The property was priced at £222,222 but the cash buyers decided to try their luck by making a "cheeky" offer of £195,000.

It was sadly rejected — but the vendor did come back to them with a counteroffer, with a bizarre request.

Danni explained: "The owner has come back with a counteroffer – with a condition.

"He will come down to just under £201,000 and he would like to keep the paintings and the rugs that are on the floor but he'd leave everything else."

To which, Fran replied: "I didn't really want the paintings."

The Scottish mother and daughter decided to "go for it" in the end and secured the home for just under £201,000.

One user said: "Not messers after all!!! I bet the daughter spends the majority of the time there! Laters folks."

Another added: "Get in 195 cheeky f**ks."

A third commented: "Keep the artwork."
