A Place in the Sun fans baffled over couples reason for pursuing dream home

A Place in the Sun guests were brutally mocked when they explained why they liked one of the holiday homes offered up to them.

Liz and Ian wanted to spend more time in the Peloponnese region of Greece and turned to Channel 4 host Lee Juggurnauth to find their perfect property.

The couple were after an "authentic, traditional Greek" home but they noted that the "view is the most important thing".

"The view that I can see the sea, so I can get up in the morning, have coffee and look at the sea," Liz said.

Ian explained the property is going to be a "holiday home for us and our friends and our two sons" while they are able to work from home from time to time.

Lee took them to a grand house that has an exterior liking to a castle.

Priced below their budget of £280,000, Lee said the house also came with stunning views and two strips of land.

As they stood at the balcony, Liz and Ian were speechless and Lee said: "Silence, take it all in…."

Liz smiled and said: "Don't you think it looks a bit like you've got a screensaver on your laptop?"

Lee then suggested how the couple could utilise the layered garden.

"The level just below us here, you could have a big dining table there – perfect for entertainment," he said.

"The lower level could be where your future infinity pool would go. Raise the level just a little bit and put the infinity pool there – the continuity of that blue into the ocean would be pretty amazing."

While Liz appeared to be picturing it all in her head, she agreed: "Yeah, no, I think infinity pool. Yeah. Our friends would love it."

After the viewing, the pair considered it top of their list.

Ian mentioned a few things to improve on as he told Lee: "Slightly less of a hill going down to the local village."

Liz added: "I don't mind the walk, but it's quite a rustic hill and steep, the road is quite rubbly, isn't it?"

Channel 4 fans quickly chimed in online and mocked Liz as one said: "'Our friends would love it'? Yeah that's a good reason to buy a house abroad."

Another noted: "I thought they like the rustic, authentic feel, now they wish to pave paradise and put in tarmac road?"
