Season three of All Creatures Great And Small is finally underway and Channel 5 fans saw Helen Alderson (played by Rachel Shenton) and James Herriot (Nicholas Ralph) finally tie the knot. However, it appears now singleton Tristan Farnon (Callum Woodhouse) is looking for love to fill the void in his life. The actor who plays Tristan recently opened up about what it was like to film for the latest series.

He went on to admit to Jermaine Jenas and Emma Willis on The One Show, that he really wanted his dog, Ralph, to feature in the Channel 5 drama.

However, much to his disappointment, bosses rejected the idea entirely.

“You’ve got a dog, haven’t you?” Emma asked as Callum nodded in agreement.

“Any cameos?” the host went on to ask as the Tristan star replied: ” I really wanted…my dog is called Ralph, named after Nick.”

“There he is,” the actor continued as a photo popped up on the screen.

As Emma quizzed Callum on whether his dog is named after his co-star, he replied: “No, but maybe I’ll start saying it is.

“Yeah I did try and get him a cameo in All Creatures but I was reminded of the fact that he’s a Cavapoochon.

“So in the 1930s, he wouldn’t have existed because of the crossbreeding and things like that.”

He continued: “But I made the argument that Tristan could have the first ever Cavapoochon in Yorkshire.

“He’s a trendsetter Tristan, he is a trendsetting guy.”

Emma went on to agree with the actor, telling him: “I love a continuity error.”

The first episode of the show’s latest series saw Helen and James finally get married, leaving viewers in tears.

However, after watching his best friend get married, Tristan is longing to find a love of his own.

Speaking in a recent interview with Express.co.uk, the actor opened up about what is in store for Tristan.

“He’s seen James and Helen and how happy they are together,” he explained before adding: “And I think he thinks that’s maybe what’s missing.”

“The main thing he’s been wanting to do for the whole time we’ve seen him really is to pass his exams and impress Siegfried.

“And we’ve seen him finally do that and there’s just something unfulfilled there.

“It just doesn’t really have the impact, or it’s not fulfilled him in the way that I think he always thought it was going to.”

Callum concluded: “He’s always felt like once I pass, I’ll be set. And then he passes.

“And there’s just still the sort of maybe, like, empty feeling.”

The One Show airs weekdays at 7pm on BBC One.
