Adam Thomas speaks out after emotional Strictly display – It wasn’t so bad

Claudia Winkleman voices concern over Adam Thomas

Waterloo Road star Adam Thomas has taken to Instagram to explain his reaction to his Strictly Come Dancing performance last night to his one million followers.

The former Emmerdale actor and his professional partner Luba Mushtuk performed a sizzling Tango to the rock song Somebody Told Me by The Killers but received a mixed reaction from the judges.

They were given 23 points for their routine, which placed them in the middle of the leaderboard, but Adam seemed disappointed in his performance.

He appeared to be fighting back tears as he spoke to show host Claudia Winkleman, who expressed her concern for him as they joined her and their fellow dancers upstairs.

“Do not beat yourself up,” she warned him. “Do not. As a group, we won’t allow it,” she added before all of his fellow performers pulled him in for a group hug.

Upon reflection, he posted on the social media site today explaining what happened. He began by thanking everyone for their “kind words last night”.

“Looking back it wasn’t so bad,” he said. “But I know I could have done better, and I just beat myself up because of it!

“I give myself the hardest time sometimes but it’s just tough when you work so hard in training and then you fall at the last hurdle!

“I just think I put too much pressure on myself and the nerves got the better of me! But look we’re all human it happens just got to pick myself up and carry on!” he resolved.

“Also to everyone who danced last night including the pros… just another show-stopping performance yet again!” he exclaimed magnanimously.
