Alex Jones mortified as comment leaves co-star fuming Youve made it awkward

Alex Jones lets Roman Kemp’s ‘secret’ slip live on air

The One Show’s Alex Jones, 46, seemed to suggest Roman Kemp, 30 was expecting a baby after an “awkward” conversation during Thursday night’s episode.

Alex had been commenting on a report about the Princess of Wales fronting a trial for babies in the UK after being inspired by a similar project during a trip to Denmark.

After the clip was shown, she turned to her BBC co-host Roman and stated he will “find out” the importance of help offered to parents with young babies.

“It’s amazing, isn’t it? How the Princess of Wales went to Denmark and has actually brought it back – she’s done something about it

you know, anything that makes those early days easier is so important,” Alex remarked.

“Very important, indeed,” Roman agreed before Alex stated: “As you’ll find out…”

As Roman appeared bewildered, a mortified-looking Alex quickly realised what she seemed to have suggested and added: “I mean, I’m not starting… I didn’t mean it!”

“Is this you telling my parents live on TV that I’m expecting a child, or?” Roman asked as Alex hid her face.

“No!” She exclaimed and continued: “Martin and Shirlie… that just came from nowhere.”

She went on to assure the singers: “It’s not a thing, don’t panic!”

“Right, moving on,” Roman replied, introducing The One Show guests, which included a pregnant Alexandra Burke.

“Now you see we can deflect to the sofa area,” Alex joked before Roman hit back: “Now it looks bad – now it looks like I’m having a baby with Alexandra Burke!”

As the guests laughed, he jokingly snapped at Alex: “You’ve made it awkward just carry on!”

“Don’t give me the giggles, please!” Alexandra begged as Alex congratulated her.

“How are you feeling? Are you ok? It’s quite hot,” the presenter added.

“Oh it’s very, very hot,” the former X-Factor star agreed before assuring Alex: “But I’m feeling very good – this is my second pregnancy and if I’m honest with you it’s tough, but it’s a blessing so I wouldn’t change this for the world. So yeah – feeling good!”

The One Show airs weekdays from 7pm on BBC One.
