All Creatures Great and Small star pays tribute to Tristan’s replacement

All Creatures Great and Small season 4 trailer

Recently speaking to Express.co.uk and other press, Mrs Pumphrey star, Patricia Hodge opened up on what it was like to have a new co-star on the show.

All Creatures Great and Small season four will see the arrival of Richard Carmody (played by James Anthony-Rose) who is replacing Tristan Farnon (Callum Woodhouse) with his co-stars praising his arrival.

Callum left to join the Royal Army Veterinary Corps at the end of the 2022 Christmas special and left everyone at Skeldale house devastated by his departure.

Veterinary student Richard Carmody is set to cause a stir amongst Siegfried Farnon (Samuel West) and James Herriot (Nicholas Ralph), but the actor has been praised by his co-stars.

Speaking about Tristan’s replacement, the actress began: “Oh it is lovely and he’s marvellous. These young actors are so good and I do think that they cast it so well this series.

“They did it so brilliantly and he… well you will see it on the screen, he really brings something different to it.

“He didn’t show being nervous because he went straight into Richard Carmody mode when he arrived, I hope he wasn’t.

“He may have been inside but it is not the way he displays it. The interesting thing about his character that you will see is he comes in and has to realise.”

She added: “All of the things we learn in life, it is one thing to learn it but another to put it into practice and that is his character arch I would say.”
