AMBULANCE viewers were left reaching for the tissues after a 90-year-old woman attempted suicide to avoid being put in a care home.
The popular BBC programme, filmed in the northeast of England, follows ambulance crews and control room staff as they do their job.
The Bafta-winning series returns with a new cast of characters from North West Ambulance Service as it cares for the people of Greater Manchester.
Each week, there is a new series of call outs for the staff to respond to, from seizures to alcohol-related incidents.
Viewers can watch what paramedics and the air ambulance crew get up to in a typical day of work.
And Thursday night's episode soon had those watching at home in bits as pensioner Lorna tried to overdose in a desperate bid to avoid being put into a care home.

Taking to Twitter, one person penned: "Absolutely sobbing at Ambulance on BBC One. A 90-year-old lady took loads of pills so she didn't have to go into a care home. So sad."
Echoing their comments, someone else said: "How many Lorna's are out there? Loads sadly, when you have mental health problems and you add loneliness in the mix. It's a ticking time bomb."
While a third remarked: "Not going to lie, I had the tissues out tonight. What an emotional episode of Ambulance. Well done to everyone in tonight’s episode."
