Anton du Beke shares he was stabbed by his father
Anton du Beke became highly emotional when speaking about his mother on Kate Garraway’s ITV Life Stories.
Speaking about the early years of Strictly Come Dancing, Kate highlighted that he was living at home for a period of time with his mum.
He said: “In the early days, yeah. It was only me and mum because we were together, it was just me and mum…”
Not able to finish his sentence, Anton started to get emotional as he briefly took a pause.
Welling up with tears, he continued: “She had not been well you see, she’s amazing.

“It makes me sad because of what we were talking about earlier, you want people to have the best life that they can have.
“You want them to have a great time in this short life that we have, she’s not been well and I hope that she’s had a great time. Certainly, since I’ve been doing the show anyway.”
Kate highlighted his mother is the reason he’s sat in the chair today along with helping his dancing career.
Agreeing, he added: “She is. Then one thing led to another and she got a boyfriend, hilarious.

“They’re married now, Mum and Pete. It’s lovely but when she started dating, I left, I thought it would be a bit awks!”
The live audience chuckled at Anton as he confessed his mum’s husband isn’t much older than him, calling her a “cougar”.
After moving out of his mum’s house, he moved into an apartment with his friend in the centre of London.
Elsewhere in the show, viewers learned his mother encouraged Anton’s passion for dancing, although it wasn’t the same for his father.
As his dad suffered from alcoholism, so his Spanish mother Ascension had to take on extra work to support the family.
With the money situation tough at home, Anton left school in order to work and pay for his dance classes.
During the show, the Strictly judge confessed he’d been a baker, painter and decorator and mattress seller to gain some extra cash as he tried to climb the dancing ladder.
