Aston Merrygold pays tribute as 'original JLS member' dies at age 35 | The Sun

POP STAR Aston Merrygold has paid tribute to a backing dancer who performed with his group JLS.

The singer, 35, took to social media to share a heartfelt message afterperformer Jack Pointer Mackenzie tragically died at age 35.


The talented dancer toured with the pop group throughout their career from 2009 to 2021, after JLS shot to fame on The X Factor.

Aston penned: "RIP captain," with a prayer hand and raised hand emojis.

He added: "Original JLS member."

Aston, whose bandmates consist of Marvin Humes, Ortise Williams and JB Gill, shared another touching post.

The father-of-three shared a video of Jack showcasing his incredible dance skills on stage with the JLS boys.

He wrote: "Captain Jack always with the vibe from 2009 and beyond!!

"A phenomenal team member!"

Base Dance Studios took to Instagram to share a tribute message, alongside a photo of Jack, which read: "A unique gift, who shall be sorely missed. Thank you for sharing your talent with us.

Jack's cause of death is currently not known.

Many fans were quick to post their condolence messages.

One wrote: "A huge loss for the community. Love to his closest, and dearest. Fly High Jack."

Another posted: "A beautiful dancer, teacher and human."

A third added: "No words, so talented and a genuinely lovely human."

Jack's funeral took place on 2 October, 2023, according to a tribute site.

He worked with a number of A-list stars throughout his career – including Justin Bieber, Camila Cabello and Hozier.
