Bargain Hunt star gobsmacked by 'rare' Royal Wedding whiskey set to make staggering profit | The Sun

BARGAIN Hunt star Charles Hanson was left shocked as a rare Royal Wedding whiskey arrived at his auction house which could make thousands.

Charles, one of Bargain Hunt's most notable faces,runs his own auction house called Hansons Auctioneers which flogs a variety of luxury and rare items.


The BBC presenter took to his website to share details of his rare find which is predicted to generate thousands of pounds at auction.

The bottle is titled The Macallan Royal Marriage Malt Whisky and was created 41 years ago to commemorate the wedding of Prince Charles and Princess Diana.

In special tribute to the royal pair, Macallan created a ‘marriage of whiskies’ whereby they fused tgether a whiskey distilled in 1948 and one from 1961 – the birth years of Charles and Diana.

The bottle contained well-wishes for the royal couple as a message on its packaging read: “Long Life and Happiness.”

The unique label further detailed: “A unique marriage of our fine single malt whisky distilled in 1948 and 1961, respectively the years of the Royal couple’s births.”

The TV personality spoke about the item and it’s cultural significance.

Charles said: “Macallan is world-renowned for its fine whisky and this rare limited-edition Royal Marriage Malt is likely to be sought after.”

The star added: “Anyone old enough to remember watching that fairy-tale wedding in 1981 on a warm summer’s day will recall the excitement and national celebrations surrounding the event. This whisky is a reminder of a joyful moment.”

Not only does the rare bottle come with cultural and historical significance it comes attached with a hefty price tag and is set to net Charles thousands.

Speaking of its enormous wealth, Charles said:  “It’s a rare bottle to find and we have seen it offered by whisky retailers for prices approaching £10,000. For any whisky connoisseur or collector, it’s an impressive addition to the drinks cellar and an investment item.”

This latest pricey addition to his collectable comes after his recent discovery of a Pokemon card collection which is set to see him pocket £15,000.

The antiques expert admired a Pokemon card collection by a collector called JC, who swapped cards during his schooldays and now has a collection which could make an eye-watering amount.

JC Smith got into Japanese Pokemon cards around the age of 10 or 11 in the late 1990s and he was so savvy he treasured them like an accomplished collector.

Now more than 100 cards split into 40 lots are on target to make in excess of £13,000 when they go under the hammer at Hansons Auctioneers.

Charles captioned the pictures: "Little JC who was ten in the year 2000 swapped Pokémon cards at school and we expect his collection next month will sell for £15,000!

"If only we knew then what we know now! Well done JC."
