The antiques expert took to Twitter to admire a Pokemon card collection by JC, who swapped cards during his schooldays and now has a collection which BBC’s Bargain Hunt star Charles is certain could make up to £15,000. He posted a photo of JC as a young boy and his card collection.

In view of his 37,000 Twitter followers, Charles captioned the pictures: “Little JC who was ten in the year 2000 swapped Pokémon cards at school and we expect his collection next month will sell for £15,000!

“If only we knew then what we know now! Well done JC.”

Charles, along with other experts, assists guests on the popular series.

The cards were a staple with schoolchildren in the 1990s and early 2000s.

With collections now becoming increasingly valuable, it seems Charles has been able to assist JC in making the incredible profit.

His social media followers were impressed by the post, with many wondering what their cards might be worth.

Twitter user @KhalSir commented: “@HansonsAuctions It’s all about the Cards.

“My friend’s Steve Bloomer Football Card sold for £1650 the other day. We need more Card Auctions.”

@ClaireGibbs16 wrote: “Wow there are loads of Pokémon cards in our house.”

QaasimKhan2 asked: “Really Charles, I have some 2 half a collection worth anything?”

@rrubyloves penned: “@HansonsAuctions supposedly, some ‘magic: the gathering’ cards sell for high prices too!

“It’s so crazy that game cards are valued at such high prices.”

Reflecting recently on some of his most successful profits, Charles remarked: “Personally, as an auctioneer, I sold a Chinese vase for £300,000 which was wonderful.”

Speaking to BBC, he continued: “Bargain Hunt Live is one of my most memorable moments on the show.

I was an expert along with Tommy Walsh and Jeremy Bowen, live on BBC television at 8pm – a nerve-wracking moment!”

He also told the publication about his favourite find on the show.

“[It] was probably a quirky Elizabethan stirrup cup – and luckily it made a profit, even it was only £20.”

The Bargain Hunt expert runs Hansons Auctioneers, which is made up of four different auction centres.

He founded the company in 2005, with the most recent auction house opening in Oxfordshire in 2020.

On his website, he explained: “As anyone who has seen me on TV shows like Bargain Hunt, Flog It! and Antiques Road Trip will know, I love the drama of the auction room and the excitement of seeing bids coming in.

“Selling with success is my passion and I do my utmost to secure the best possible outcome for our valued clients, bringing my enthusiasm and energy to the rostrum.”

Bargain Hunt airs weekdays at 12.15pm on BBC One.
