BBC Breakfast 's typical format endured yet another shake-up when Nina Warhurst joined Jon Kay on the red sofa.

Jon typically presents alongside co-host Sally Nugent on Tuesday's, but the 51-year-old was nowhere to be seen on the first show following the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.

The morning show has faced countless format changes over the past week, with 41-year-old Nina holding down the fort solo while Jon and Sally ditched the Salford studio several times to report live from Westminster.

On Sunday (September 18), Nina presented the show on her own for the fourth day running, admitting it wasn't as easy as people would think.

After 52-year-old Jon interviewed several mourners who waited hours to pay their respects to the beloved late monarch, the newsreader threw the show back to his colleague in the studio located in the heart of Manchester.

It was at this point that Nina confessed she was eager to reunite with him in the studio again, as she gushed: “Hi Jon, looking forward to re-joining you soon."

On today's show, Nina asked her co-host what it was like being in London over the past week, to which he responded: "It's be a privilege. It's been remarkable. It's been extraordinary."

"We've spoken to thousands of people on Breakfast. It's been a moment, a moment we will always remember," he added.
