A BBC BREAKFAST presenter was forced to apologise for an on air technical blunder that left a reporter sounding very strange.

The flagship show was presented by Sally Nugent and Ben Thompson who brought viewers the latest news.


Ben was standing in for Jon Kay who is currently taking a well earned break from the programme.

But during the show a technical blunder plagued the sports report.

Mike Bushell was bringing viewers up to date on everything from the sports world.

He informed BBC Breakfast viewers that the Common Wealth games have been cancelled in a shock twist.

For reaction and analysis he crossed live to Shaimaa Khalil who was in Melbourne, Australia.

However, as she started speaking her microphone appeared to break which distorted her voice.

Producers then cut back to the studio as Mike told viewers: "Yeah, apologies for technical problems there, this is a developing story and we will have more on that."

BBC Breakfast were quick to spot the blunder and took to social media to react.

A second said: "Poor Mike seemed a bit lost with all that."

Meanwhile, Sally was slammed for an 'amateur' blunder by fans as she was nervously left laughing.

During the programme Ben and Sally spoke to music producer Pete Waterman about his latest show.

It sees a bride who is stood up at her own wedding decide to bring her family her honeymoon.

The star's music is integrated into the musical stage show which kicks off later this year.

However, some BBC Breakfast fans weren't pleased with Sally and Ben's chat with Pete.

They took to social media to slam the interview.
