BBC Breakfast's Naga Munchetty says sorry to fans after 'failing to deliver' on latest show | The Sun

BBC BREAKFAST'S Naga Munchetty apologised to fans after she "failed to deliver" on her latest show.

The TV presenter, 47, was forced to push back the airing of a recorded interview on her BBC Radio 5 Live programme yesterday.

Naga told listeners that an interview with author Rebecca Humphries would not be aired as it needed to be edited further before going live.

Early on in the show, Naga promised that she would play her interview with the author, but later admitted there was more editing to be done before Rebecca's chat could be played.

Rebecca won praise for dumping her comic boyfriend Seann Walsh and launching a blistering attack on him after he was pictured snogging married professional dancer Katya Jones on her birthday in 2018.

Naga told her listeners: "Now, I did say that I was going to bring you the interview I did with the actor and writer Rebecca Humphries.

"She's just published her first book, it's all about self-acceptance and finding your self-worth after a relationship, a very public relationship breakdown.

"It's a very, very powerful interview and as happens with radio we have these very long interviews and we edit them and we've been working on that."

Naga continued: "I spoke to Rebecca and finished talking to her about quarter to 11.

"We want to do this justice so we want to get a really good edit for you."

The broadcaster told listeners it was going to be delayed and admitted she couldn't "deliver".

Naga added: "We're going to bring it to you next week rather than today.

"I promised something, I can't deliver it, I apologise.

"But it is worth it and you will hear it next week."

It comes after Naga sent her support to her BBC co-star Jon Kay after he was forced to pull out of his first show as permanent host.

Jon, 52, was only just confirmed as Dan walker's replacement in an announcement on July 8, 2022.

Jon has been the stand in host alongside Sally Nugent since Dan Walker left for 5 News in May 2022.

However, fans expecting to see Jon on the red sofa on his first official day of the job were left disappointed.

Sharing a snap of his positive Covid test on Twitter, he added the caption: "Aaaagh! Finally got me [germ emoji].

"Gutted not to be able to start the new job officially @BBCBreakfast on Monday."

Jon was flooded with comments including from his predecessor Dan who said: "Oh no Jon! Hope you feel ok."

Naga wrote: “Argh! Hope you're not feeling too poorly.”
