BBC presenter Martine Croxall has been taken off-air after she faced backlash for appearing to laugh at a joke about Boris Johnson.
The TV presenter was hosting The Papers show on Sunday night when she struggled to hold back laughter after the former Prime Minister ruled himself out of the Conservative leadership race.
While on air, she admitted through her giggles that she was “probably breaking some terrible impartiality rule”.

The anchor opened the show by asking cheekily: “Am I allowed to be this gleeful? Well I am!”
Later on in programme, the broadcaster laughed as journalist Tony Grew mocked My Johnson, interrupting him to apologise for chuckling and say she was “probably” breaching new rules.
Since the show aired, the presenter has been pulled from the show following a potential breach of impartiality, according to PA news agency.
The BBC show aired just minutes after the former Mayor of London announced that he would not run for a second term of office after Liz Truss resigned as Prime Minister last week.
Health Minister Neil O’Brien was seen shutting down the comments at a time when the government have been considering the future of the long-term licence fee.
He said: “The BBC is supposed to be one bulwark against the slide into a US-style new media cesspit – it is so self-destructive for them to do this.”
Ms Croxall’s remarks have also sparked outrage on social media, with a wave of viewers sharing their frustration and disappointment at the latest apparent breach of the BBC’s allegedly strict impartiality regulations.
One user called the comments an “utter disgrace” as another chimed in with: “Another biased BBC employee.”
A third fumed: “The BBC is meant to be impartial at all times. We all know the Corporation is full to the brim with left wing whackos, but now they don’t even try to hide it.”
However, some users have argued a clip of the incident which has been circulating online has misrepresented Croxall with her controversial comments often taken out of context.

One defender penned: “Martine Croxall is obviously expressing excitement at the time of ‘hot news’ during a segment that everyone knows is informal and conversational. Not being biased does not mean ‘robotic’.”
Another agreed: “Sharing a 7 second clip out of context doesn’t prove the point you’re trying to make.
“Watch the whole segment. She’s clearly excited by the fast-moving news and headlines being rewritten.”
