BBC Strictly Come Dancing star lined up for huge EastEnders role in new family

Strictly Come Dancing star Molly Rainford may not have won the Glitterball trophy, but things are certainly looking up for the CBBC presenter.

According to The Sun, Molly has bagged a new role on EastEnders after catching he eye of soap bosses on Strictly.

Molly is set to play the daughter in a new family moving to the Queen Vic after the last landlord Mick Carter, played by Danny Dyer, appeared to have drowned.

A source said: "Molly joins a long line of former finalists who’ve gone on to bigger things than the competitors who’ve ultimately triumphed.

“But anyone who saw her on Strictly could see the entertainment world was her oyster.”

Molly finished the 2022 series as runner-up with her dance partner Carlos Gu behind Hamza Yassin and professional dancer Jowita Przystał.

But the series seems to have changed Molly's life both professionally and romantically, as she was seen cosying up to her show rival Tyler West during the Strictly tour around the UK.

Rumours have already been circulating that Danny's character could be replaced by film legend Ray Winstone as the new landlord of the pub.

Winstone previously spoke about joining the soap after nearly playing Billy Mitchell's brother back in 2008 before backing out for a new role in Indiana Jones.

He said: "That thing about turning up five times a week, these guys work really hard, it just ain't for me. I wondered if I'd probably be the only one from the East End in the show."

His daughter Jaime has also appeared on the soap, playing a young Peggy Mitchell in a special flashback episode last year, with Peggy's life as a young mother being explored in the 70s.

EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC.
