BBC Strictly fans left fuming as they claim semi-final dances are fixed

Strictly Come Dancing: Ellie and Vito get their scores

Strictly Come Dancing fans have been left fuming after the BBC announced the dances the final four contestants will be performing in the coming semi-final.

Due to Nigel Harman having to pull out of the competition due to an injury, the results show on Sunday was dedicated to announcing which two dances.

Bad Education star Layton Williams will take to the floor with his professional partner Nikita Kuzmin to perform a Rumba and a Charleston.

Tennis legend Annabel Croft and her partner Johannes Radebeb are tackling a Salsa and a Viennese Waltz.

Former Coronation Street star Ellie Leech and her pro Vito Coppola, will dance the Cha Cha Cha and her Couple’s Choice routine.

Finally, EastEnders actor Bobby Brazier and his partner Dianne Buswell will be performing a Paso Doble and Quickstep.

However, viewers were left with a huge issue after noticing the lack of ballroom dancing and claimed Layton was “fixed” to get through to the final.

Viewers took to the BBC Strictly Instagram page, as user @laura14c1982 said: “No Couples choice should be allowed in semi final it’s an unfair advantage.”

@mamadaydream added: “I’m sorry I actually don’t think couples choice should be allowed in semi final…they are too close to show dances.”

They also took to their X accounts, formerly known as Twitter, as Joseph noted: “Wait… Ellie is doing Cha Cha and Couple’s Choice?

“That means in the last two-thirds of the series, she’s only done one traditional ballroom dance. #Strictly.

“Only two ballroom dances in the semi-final is f****** ridiculous. The show’s disregard for ballroom is getting out of hand. #Strictly.” (sic)

LabradorGuy commented: “Seems like a fix on #Strictly, the two amateurs getting a ballroom/Latin and Layton gets to avoid ballroom so he can get high scores and sail into the final..”

LovedByYou echoed: “The LACK of Ballroom in this Semi-Finals is SHOCKING. #StrictlyComeDancing.” (sic)

After pulling out at the weekend, Nigel said: “I was leaping off a rostrum and was about to be caught by some very handsome men, and as I flew I was Peter Pan and as I landed I was in A&E.

“So I’ve done something to my rib basically, and it’s quite painful. I’m a little bit high on painkillers as well but I’m having a lovely time!

“I’ve loved it. And I am [still] loving it – it’s too soon to say ‘loved’! This hasn’t really sunk in, when I watched everyone come down the stairs, I was a bit sad.”

Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday from 7:35pm on BBC One, with the results on Sunday from 7:30pm on BBC One.
