Bravo’s hit reality show, Below Deck returned to screens in the summer with season seven of its Mediterranean spin-off. As well as some new crew members, viewers also saw the return of Courtney Veale, who praised the beloved Captain Sandy Yawn.

When season seven first kicked off in July, fans were introduced to a host of yachties hailing from across the world.

They were also met with returning crew members Captain Sandy and deckhand Mzi “Zee” Dempers.

However, things had gone off to a rocky start as they had run into a number of tricky obstacles including crashing into a buoy.

This was the result of bosun Raygan Tyler being in over her head and misjudging three meters then after five episodes, she was sent packing.

With a new spot to fill in the team, Sandy invited Courtney to return to the seas with a promotion.

Having been a stewardess in her last appearance on the show, Courtney took on a brand new role as a deckhand.

As she had ended the season on good terms with Sandy, the Captain invited her back to show off her new deck skills aboard the 163-foot motor yacht, Home.

Courtney reflected on her return and praised Sandy who championed her return to the show.

The 28-year-old shared: “She’s so passionate about yachting and being a captain.

“It’s inspirational to see people who are passionate about what they do. I love the fact that she’s fully behind me, and she’s a really good mentor.

“She’s always got my back if I need her, or if I’m stressing about something.”

The deckhand continued: “Whenever I was stressed on that first trip, she’d tell me, ‘Courtney, you can do it. You’re doing it.’

“She was confident I could jump into three-meter swells to grab a jet ski and did it even though I was s******g my pants. It was fun.”

Although Courtney had joined the crew later in the season, she had settled in well and began to form a bond with the team.

Fans were also thrilled to see her return and they remembered Courtney to be the fun-loving crew member who tried to teach Sandy how to twerk.

Many were also intrigued to see the dynamics between her and Zee as the two were extremely flirty in their last season.

During her first episode back, Courtney told producers: “I’m back! I was kind of in two minds after last season.

“Like, being promoted to second stew, last season it was so intense and I was constantly inside and stressed and never saw daylight.

“So when I left Lady Michelle, I went to the Bahamas and did the last bit of the Caribbean season as a deckie. I definitely feel like a deckhand fits my personality better than a stew. “Getting the call from Sandy to come back, I’m excited, but I’m super nervous as well. I’m ready to get to twerk.”

Below Deck Mediterranean is available in the US on Bravo and in the UK on Hayu.
