Coronation Street character Mary Taylor admitted she had a soft spot for Ben Shephard three years ago, and now the Good Morning Britain host has finally revealed how he feels about it.

Mary, played by actor Patti Clare, 47, first revealed that she’s quite possibly Ben’s number-one fan back in 2020.

Mary told Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) that she loves the Tipping Point star so much, she had purchased a warm and cosy blanket with his face all over it.

In an episode of the ITV soap earlier this week, Mary proved that Ben was still firmly at the forefront of her mind during a discussion with George (Tony Maudsley).

They were talking about novelty funerals, which aim to give a more personal touch to the event.

Mary shared her desire to have a funeral package focused on Ben. Specifically, she’d like to be laid to rest in a Ben bed.

On today’s Good Morning Britain, Ben, 48, revealed what he thought of the reoccurring narrative.

Kate Garraway opened the show by asking Ben: ‘Were your ears burning on Tuesday night?’

After letting out a little bit of laughter he said: ‘It’s that strange thing that happens when you get mentioned in people’s conversations and you’ll get a message.

‘Tuesday night, Coronation Street happens, my phone went absolutely bonkers with mentions.’

‘Mary is particularly fond of me I think,’ he summarised.

In a later discussion, he added: ‘The lovely Pati Clare plays Mary so brilliantly, it’s really flattering’.

His inclusion is also impressing one particular family member

‘My great aunty Jan is always beside herself as she’s a massive Corrie fan,’ he revealed.

We think Ben should make Jan even happier, and do a Corrie cameo!
