Britain’s Got Talent hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly have had to plead with the audience during the semi-finals after they cheered “too loud” at the live show.
The presenting duo welcomed viewers to the Eventim Apollo and introduced judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, David Walliams and Alesha Dixon before the show got well underway.
Dance group IMD Legion performed for the celebs and received a huge reception from the audience, but took it a little too far as the judges tried to give their verdict.
Alesha tried to give her thoughts to the troupe but commented that she “couldn’t hear herself think” as the crowd bellowed out.
Ant and Dec tried to calm the guests and gestured for them to settle down so that the show could continue, but seemingly to no avail.
After they were urged to calm the shouting, Dec exclaimed: “We’re going to run out of time and we won’t be able to hear anything.”
Viewers at home agreed with the celebs and were extremely irritated with the crowd’s behaviour.
An annoyed fan wrote on Twitter: “Whilst I get they’re excited, the crowd […] are way too loud and rowdy. It’s worse than watching football. Can barely hear a thing the judges, Ant and Dec are saying.”
Another commented: “As for the audience, they need to shut the hell up. They’re so bloody loud, I’ve had to turn the telly down! Literally cheer at anything, that lot.”
One scathingly told them: “The audience needs to shut up. You can’t hear the judge’s critiques.”
More viewers tweeted that they were being “so loud” and “hyper,” while another said that the crowd were “drowning out the acts”.
Fans have called out the show for “fixing” one of the semi final rounds so that one of the Golden Buzzer acts could make it through to the final.
Loren Allred, whose vocals featured on The Greatest Showman soundtrack for Rebecca Ferguson, won the buzzer from Amanda Holden and has been a clear hit with the judges since her audition.
However, some think that she is being favoured over other acts as she performed after three acts that failed to wow the judges.
