Big Brother bosses say new reboot series wont be like Love Island

Big Brother bosses say that the new reboot series that will catapult onto our screens in 2023 won't be anything like Love Island.

Fans of the reality show that first aired in 2000 as an experiment, are calling for the reboot to go "back to basics", with many hoping that influencers and famous "wannabes" won't be included in the line up.

And now TV bosses are "promising" that the reboot will feature a "diverse cast" and "won't be like Love Island".

Speaking to The Mirror, a source revealed said: "There will be a diverse casting across a range of ages, which is what made so special. It won't be like Love Island, where the contestants are all young social media influencer types – they want 'all walks of life'."

The source continued: "There will absolutely be no outside influence – just like in the original series – so they won't get a day off every week like they do in the villa.

"It will have everything viewers came to love about the retro series, with nominations, a public vote and live evictions, but they want it to appeal to a new generation."

Daily Star has contacted ITV for comment, but have had no response upon publication.

This news comes after the reboot was announced on August 1 during the final adverts during the live Love Island final on ITV2.

During the final ad break, a mysterious yet instantly recognisable eye motif appeared on screen – with a familiar sounding tune.

The much-loved reality show hasn’t been on our screens since being axed byChannel 5 in 2018 after moving over from its first home at Channel 4 – but it now seems that the programme is gearing up for a huge comeback on ITV2.

A press release from ITV says that a new cast of "carefully selected housemates" will enter the famous reality TV house.

The housemates will be from "all walks of life" and will spend six weeks inside the lavish residence, which is yet to be built after it was demolished when the final season on Channel 5 finished almost five years ago.

"The action will all play out under the roof of the iconic Big Brother house, which will be given its own contemporary new look ready for this reimagining of the show," says ITV.

"Clever tasks, nail-biting nominations and live evictions will be back, with the public once again playing a crucial role, voting throughout the series and ultimately determining the winner, who will walk away with a life changing cash prize."

At the time of the announcement one fan pleaded: "I just hope they keep to their (rumoured) word about keeping it ‘regular people.’ We don’t want influencers or wannabe influencers, a row of six packs and fake tans. We want Jonny the builder and Carol the cleaner alongside a Tory Oxford student and an OnlyFans one-timer."
