Cast your minds back to 2000 – the year of the first ever Big Brother – and you'll likely remember the name Nick Bateman. The former housemate entered the show as a 32 year old senior broker, but following his stint on the reality series, left with the nickname 'Nasty Nick.'
For those who watched Big Brother back then, you'll recall Nick making headlines after it was revealed he was trying to influence nominations by playing the other housemates against each other. During his time in the house, he didn't receive one single eviction nomination, which it turned out was down to his manipulative antics.
But after the producers sussed out Nick's game plan, his housemates were informed and he was swiftly disqualified from the show for breaking one of its major rules. However, not without unknowingly making history as one of the most notorious Big Brother housemates of all time.
In terms of Nasty Nick's life post Big Brother, it's well known that he played into the hands of the media and raked in on his behaviour on the outside, from writing a book to landing presenting jobs.
But what does Nick Bateman's life look like now?
Nick enjoyed a brief showbiz career
Following his Big Brother exit, Nick ironically went on to present the TV show, Trust Me. He also penned his own book: Nasty Bateman: How to be a Right B*****d, which played on his TV villain persona.
Nick also appeared in another reality show, Back to Reality, which featured people from previous reality shows.
Elsewhere in his showbiz career, Nick starred in the Big Brother pantomime, as well as narrating a stage production of the Rocky Horror Show.
Nick then revisited his Big Brother roots once more, taking part in Ultimate Big Brother in 2010, where he placed fifth. A year later, he featured on Big Brother's Bit on the Side.
Nick has friends in high places
Back in 2000, shortly after his fame inducing Big Brother role, Nick found himself at the premiere of Brad Pitt's film, Snatch.
The two were pictured together – along with the film's director Guy Ritchie, Stephen Graham and Vinnie Jones – which led to a slew of publications reporting on the alleged friendship.
However, it turned out that Nick had received an invite from The Sun, as among the guests was also Dominic Mohan, who was the paper's Bizarre editor at the time.
Nick swapped the UK for Australia and moved Down Under 10 years ago
In 2013, Nick made the move to Australia, and has been living in Sydney ever since.
Speaking to The Express about his decision to uproot his life, he partially blamed his Big Brother notoriety for making "going into McDonald’s or a bar" challenging.
"I understood this lifestyle couldn’t last forever, so I did a course in single-camera directing. But it was difficult finding work. It was a bleak, cold day in the English countryside in 2013 when I decided to make a new start for myself. If I didn’t do it now I never would," he recalled.
Nick then detailed how he moved to Sydney, where he's now "blessed with a beautiful country, blue skies, and a way of life," that he loves.
Work wise, he revealed that he's involved in marketing in Australia, which involves social media for businesses. Plus, writing content and posting advertising.
