Blacklist fans fume thats the best you could come up with over final episode

The Blacklist series finale promo

Warning: The following article contains spoilers for The Blacklist season 10.

After ten years, The Blacklist aired its final episode in the US this week. The American crime drama started with the mysterious criminal, Raymond ‘Red’ Reddington (James Spader), turning himself into the FBI after alluding capture for decades.

However, he had two conditions; immunity and speaking solely to new FBI profiler, Elizabeth Keen (Megan Boone).

It was then that Red ended up assisting the task force as an informant to hunt down and capture other criminals, with each of them appearing on his blacklist. And over the years there has been plenty of drama to keep fans entertained.

But it was announced earlier this year that the tenth season of the show would be its last.

The two-hour finale aired in the US this week and yet it wasn’t quite the ending that fans were hoping for.

The final season started with Red under threat from former Blacklisters that had united against him to get their revenge. At the same time the Strike Force team and Congressman Arthur Hudson (Toby Leonard Moore) were also hot on his tail.

In the last ever episode everything comes to a head. Red comes face-to-face with the Congressman after he shot Red’s bodyguard-turned-agent Dembe Zuma (Hisham Tawfiq). He then manages to get Dembe to a nursing home to seek treatment before attempting to flee the country.

As the finale moved into its second hour, the Task Force, headed by Special Agent Jordan Nixon (Derrick Williams), vow to avenge the Congressman’s death and finally kill Red. But Red has already landed in Spain.

However, it’s not long before they locate him. In a twist, viewers see Red take a walk in the Seville countryside and it’s there that he sees a wild bull. The bull then charges towards Red. In the closing scene of the episode Agent Donald Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff) finds Red’s mangled body on the ground.

While this could be seen as a full circle moment, since Red mentioned in episode five of season ten that he greatly admired the legendary Spanish bullfighter Manolete, viewers were quick to take to social media to share their thoughts.

One fan wrote: “We gave this show TEN. YEARS. OF. OUR. LIVES. and that’s what you give us in return?! I don’t even have words…”

While another added: “That’s the worst finale I’ve ever seen in my life, and it’s not even remotely close. Did ChatGPT write that garbage?”

A third said: “Horrible ending. No answers and that’s how it ends? Terrible.”

A fourth referred to the many unanswered questions that viewers were left with: “I’m sad the ending was the way it was…. What happened to the team?? What happened to his girlfriend??? I’m assuming he was Liz’s mother by the statement he made over the phone. Emotional ending but so many unanswered questions for a big amount of watchers who spent 10 years with the show.”

Another concluded: “That ending was lazy and it sucked.”

The Blacklist airs on NBC/Peacock in the US and Sky Max in the UK, with episodes premiering on Sundays at 10pm.
