EastEnders Bobby Brazier details crying over emotional Freddie plot

EastEnders: Lola tells Lexi her brain tumour has grown

So far, Bobby Brazier has been providing comic relief in the soap as Freddie Slater, but a new side of the EastEnders character will soon come to the surface. The 19-year-old actor admitted he and a co-star on the BBC soap were left in tears following an emotional scene involving Freddie.

Scenes yet to air will show Freddie struggling with a tricky situation involving memories from his past.

Freddie, who is the son of former character Little Mo (played by Kacey Ainsworth), hasn’t delved into his past too much so far.

While Little Mo left the Square with a young Freddie back in 2006, he hasn’t mentioned much about his life since.

He returned to Walford alone at the end of last year and has so far been around to add a few laughs to the dramatic soap scenes.

In upcoming episodes, Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) makes a comment to Freddie about being stupid, and the youngster is triggered by an event from his past.

He is then forced to go back and confront a teacher from his school about the incident.

Bobby revealed the scenes were difficult to film, stating: “I was filming with Freddie’s Nanny Jean and we were sat on the sofa afterwards, and it took us a minute to shake off the tears and sadness.

“It’s interesting as I’ve mainly been doing comedy, but soon we’re going to see some emotion from Freddie.”

Speaking to Mirror Online, he explained: “Freddie used to get called ‘thick’ at school and made to feel stupid all the time, so what Jean says really hurts him.

“It forces him to confront things from his past and give the teacher who was horrible to him a bit of a talking to.

“Freddie feels good for doing it, initially, but this is just the beginning of the story.”

Since joining the Slater clan in Walford, Freddie has proven to be a caring character, always trying to help his family out financially through bizarre schemes and plans.

However, not all elements of his personality have been explored.

It seems the upcoming plot will show the teenager has a deeper side to him and some unfinished business from his childhood.

When he first arrived on the Square, Freddie was determined to find out who his real father is.

Many of the locals are aware Little Mo was raped which led to Freddie being born, but the residents were reluctant to tell him the truth.

While he eventually decided to let it go for now, it seems Freddie might once again become curious about his birth father, which will no doubt lead to further emotional scenes.

EastEnders continues on Monday at 7.30pm on BBC One.
