Bodies is ready to watch on Netflix and subscribers are eager to know if there is going to be more to come.

The highly-anticipated crime drama, based on the graphic novel by Si Spencer, tells the tale of four detectives finding the same body in the same spot in 1890, 1941, 2023 and 2053.

Told across four timelines, each of the detectives grows closer to the truth as they become an essential part in the decades-long conspiracy that could see London brought to its knees.

Will there be a Bodies season 2 on Netflix?

After months of build-up, Bodies finally premiered on Thursday, October 19, on Netflix.

All eight episodes were released in one go for subscribers to enjoy at their own pace but it is unlikely there will be any more instalments to look forward to.

Bodies has been listed as a limited series which means it was the creators’ intention of making just one season without any pressure of a follow-up.

There have been plenty of these featured on Netflix over the years from Stay Close and Behind Her Eyes, to Maid and Inventing Anna.

While all of these went down a storm with subscribers, none of them have returned for a second outing.

However, creator Paul Tomalin hasn’t completely ruled out the possibility of making a comeback if needed.

At the end of the grand finale of Bodies, Elias’ (played by Stephen Graham) decision to not detonate the bomb somehow keeps all of the detectives alive.

It also somehow makes the loop start all over again and finishes with an oblivious Hasan (Nitin Ganatra) getting into a cab and with Maplewood (Shira Haas) driving, who knows Hasan’s name somehow.

Tomalin explains that this cliffhanger ending was done on purpose so there is an option to go forward with another series but only under special circumstances.

He told Express.co.uk: “We really went to Netflix going, ‘Okay, we’re not going to rule out a second season, but in terms of what this sets up, we end it’. So it’s a limited series.

“If it’s a huge success, who knows? But, whatever it is, you get the ending to the story that you’re signing up for on this one.

“Which is a rare privilege, because normally you’re told to avoid endings.

“But with this… it’s a one-and-done. With a dot dot dot…”
