Bruce Springsteen postpones 2023 tour dates in Philadelphia after being 'taken ill' as fans urged to keep tickets | The Sun

LEGENDARY American singer Bruce Springsteen has delayed two concerts in Philadelphia because of an illness.

His team made the announcement on X, formerly known as Twitter, saying that the shows would be rescheduled after the 73-year-old recovers.

The concerts were set to take place on August 16 and 18 at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia with the E Street Band.

"We are working on rescheduling the dates so please hold on to your tickets as they will be valid for the rescheduled shows," the statement said.

Fans were devastated by the news, with one X user saying that he flew all the way to Pennsylvania to see the show.

"Feel better soon Boss," one person wrote.

Another said: "Get well, see you down the road."

The cancellation came after Springsteen rescheduled another show in Ohio in March due to an illness.

It's unclear what sickness has plagued Springsteen, or if the two incidents are related.

Hailing from New Jersey, Springsteen is a celebrated and award-winning artist known for songs like Born to Run and Dancing In the Dark.

His tour consists of 37 shows and 32 locations and was launched after he released his tenth studio album with the E Street Band.

Throughout a career spanning six decades, Springsteen has earned 20 Grammy Awards, an Academy Award, and two Golden Globes.

He's been inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

He also received a special Tony after a Broadway show based on his life debuted.

At the end of May, the Boss shocked fans in Amsterdam when he took a hard fall while getting on stage.

He tripped while walking upstairs and fell to the floor before rolling onto his back.

The E Street Band jumped into action, grabbed his guitar, and helped him back to his feet.

Springsteen then walked up to the microphone to jokingly yell "Goodnight, everybody," even though the show had just started.

The rest of the show went on without issue.

Last year, Springsteen appeared on SiriusXM's The Howard Stern Show and told the host that he doesn't plan on retiring soon.

"I can't imagine [retiring], you know?" he said.

"I mean, if I got to a place where I was incapacitated or something but up until then I think I'm… I mean, look at Johnny Cash, Pete Seeger."

Both of the artists the Boss referenced went on to perform well into their 80s.

"I look at those guys and go, 'Yeah, I don't know if I'll [always] be doing three-hour shows, but I have so many different kinds of music that I can play and do,'" he said.
