Cain catches Chas out as she tells one big lie too far in Emmerdale?

At the beginning of tonight’s Emmerdale, we saw Chas (Lucy Pargeter) ringing Paddy (Dominic Brunt), who was expecting her and Eve to join him at the hotel where he’s at a conference.

She told him her car had broken down and she and Eve had booked in to a nearby bed and breakfast.

Paddy accepted the story readily enough, leaving Chas free to spend the rest of the night in the cottage that Al Chapman (Michael Wildman) had booked for them as a love nest.

While Eve slept, Al cooked a meal and the couple were soon cuddled up in bed.

Their relationship has now gone from the ‘just good fun’ to ‘Al telling Chas that he loves her. ‘This is the future I want, with you,’ he told her. ‘You make me feel happy.’

Al seems to make her happy too, so Chas had a lot to think about as she drove home. When she got there, Cain (Jeff Hordley) and Faith (Sally Dexter) were still feeling shell-shocked after Faith’s episode where she hallucinated that Cain was Shadrach and spilled boiling water on herself.

Liam (Jonny McPherson), called in by Cain to check on Faith, warned him that, ‘It will get harder, and brutally so.’

So Cain had a lot on his mind, but not enough to distract him from his specialist subject – car mechanics.

When Chas told him that she hadn’t made it to Paddy and the hotel because her car broke down, he had questions. What had the mechanic who fixed it said? How had it broken down?

He didn’t seem entirely satisfied by her answers – presumably as the person who services the car regularly he knows it was in good working order.

But luckily for Chas he had other things to think about he let it go – for now.

But Chas can’t afford too many more slip-ups like that…
