Call the Midwife in touching tribute to star after thrilling news Feeling appreciated

The popular star of Call the Midwife, Daniel Laurie, who plays Reggie Jackson was over the moon to be nominated for Best Actor at this year’s awards. The actor, who has Down’s syndrome, will be part of a star-studded list of talent battling it out for the big acting gong.

The BBC hit show Call the Midwife were ecstatic to share the news of their popular cast member Daniel Laurie receiving a nomination at the TV Choice Award.

Daniel has starred on the show since 2017, playing the role of the caring character Reggie.

The nomination is Daniel’s first of the award and his fellow Call the Midwife colleagues posted their excitement and fans of the show joined in to celebrate too.

He was also delighted by the nomination, sharing his happiness as part of the post.

Daniel shared his joy at the award and he explained the the huge impact it’s had on him.

The actor said: “Thank you to everyone for voting for me – it is an awesome honour. It makes me feel alive.”

Call the Midwife’s official Facebook page shared the elation and the whole cast and crew were delighted for the young actor.

They wrote: “The greatest news of all is that our brilliant Daniel Laurie, who plays Reggie, has made it into the Best Actor category!!!”

The announcement continued: “This is an INCREDIBLE achievement – as he is now competing with none other than Ben Whishaw, Jonathan Bailey and Cillian Murphy!!”

It continued: “The whole Call The Midwife family is thrilled that Daniel Laurie has received this nomination.

“He is a highly skilled and very talented actor, whose portrayal of Reggie is full of detail, sensitivity and fun.

“Danny has been a key member of our cast for many years now, and I simply cannot imagine what we would do without him.”

Fans of the show voted in their droves for him to be nominated and they joined in the tributes to the star.

Val also praised the young star: “Good luck, Danny – but whether you win or not, your character is loved by millions, and your portrayal of him is excellent! Such a great series and wondrous cast!”

Daniel’s popularity has gone global with Call the Midwife being enjoyed around the world.

A fan from the United States commented underneath the announcement of their joy for the 26 year old actor.

Laney wrote: “I voted for you, Danny. We all love you here, in the United States!!”

The TV Choice awards will be held in London on Monday 14th November, with votes from the public determining the eventual winner.

Call The Midwife returns next year on BBC One.
