Call The Midwife: Sister Monica grows weaker
Call The Midwife star Judy Parfitt looks very different to how fans are used to seeing her in a glamorous snap from five decades ago.
Although BBC viewers are used to the 87-year-old portraying Sister Monica Joan for the past 10 years, the actress’ career started back in the 1960s.
In a glamorous unearthed image of the star, Judy looks worlds away from her no-nonsense, stern character in the period drama.
The black and white image shows the actress with full voluminous dark hair posing in a paisley patterned blouse.
Judy looks flawless with her 70s-inspired makeup and piercing eyes as she looks off into the distance.

Another throwback image shows Judy in a scene from the television drama A Drug on the Market from 1967.
Having a totally different hairstyle, the actress is sporting a lighter colour which is cut into a short up ‘do.
Although her impressive career spans six decades, many fans fell in love with her character of Sister Monica in 2012.
Appearing in the first instalment of the period drama, Judy has remained a staple character in the show ever since her debut.

However, there were fears for Sister Monica in the latest series as her health took a turn for the worse, leaving many worried for her future.
Bedbound, she looked extremely frail as Dr Patrick Turner revealed she was the latest person in the district to contract hepatitis.
Although it looked as though she wouldn’t survive the diagnosis, fans were thrilled when she did one of the readings at Trixie Franklin (Helen George) and Matthew Alyward’s (Olly Rix) wedding.
She’s also expected to appear in the upcoming Christmas special before the 13th series in the new year.
Judy will be returning along with fan favourites, Jenny Agutter as Sister Julienne, Laura Main as Shelagh Turner, Helen George as Trixie Aylward, Cliff Parisi as Fred Buckle and Stephen McGann as Dr Turner.
Linda Bassett will also be returning as Nurse Crane, Megan Cusack as Nancy Corrigan, Annabelle Apsion as Violet Buckle and Zephryn Taitte as Cyril Robinson.
Along with familiar faces, fans will also see two new arrivals Renee Bailey joining as Joyce and Natalie Quarry plays Rosalind.
Fans can expect eight episodes to air next year with a further two series being confirmed by the BBC.
