Carol Kirkwood left red-faced as BBC Breakfast co-star points out blunder

BBC Breakfast: Jon laughs at Carol’s photo

BBC Breakfast host Jon Kay left his co-star Carol Kirkwood red-faced when he pointed out the unusual addition to one of the photographs sent in from a weather watcher.

Jon remarked: “Right, it’s just after 10 to eight and you know Carol gets beautiful pictures from all over the UK from you everyday that just encapsulate the weather.

“Well, this morning she’s got a cracker, I think that’s how you say it.”

Carol laughed: “It is. It’s beautiful. I am looking at the sky of course Jon. I don’t know what you’re looking at.”

“I’m not looking at the sky Carol,” her co-star hit back.

As Carol slowly walked across the screen, viewers could see she had selected an image of a road with bright blue skies above.

However, to the right of the image was a long line of portable toilets which spoiled the otherwise stunning picture.

Carol explained: “I didn’t notice that when I pulled it in unfortunately.

“But it is lovely isn’t it? This is one of our weather watcher’s pictures taken a wee bit earlier in John O’Groats in the Highlands.”

Moving on from the awkward blunder, Carol went on to deliver the latest weather forecast, professional as ever.

The awkward moment comes after the meteorologist opened up about her wedding plans 15 months after she got engaged to Steve Randall.

Carol shared she is hoping for an “intimate” wedding with the retired police officer and but are yet to set a date.

She told OK! magazine: “We’re very happy and we’re loved up, and we’re delighted to be together but we haven’t got a wedding date yet.

“I think we’ll have an intimate wedding, we don’t want to just squeeze it in, we want it to be a celebration.”

Carol and Steve were friends before they fell for one another and he popped the question in 2022.

BBC Breakfast airs daily on BBC One from 6am.
