Coronation Street fear as Max Turners unlikely romance sparks concern

Coronation Street: Eliza and Sam strike up a friendship

Max Turner (played by Paddy Bever) is settling back into life on Coronation Street after being released from the STC, but his father David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) is feeling curious about his new pal, Bec.

She is Gav Adetiba’s (Noah Olaoye) girlfriend – he is the teenager Max befriended while they were in the STC.

With Gav still behind bars, Max and Bec spend time together in upcoming scenes on the ITV soap.

Before his release, Gav asked Max to track down a girl he dated named Bec.

Max was shown meeting up with her in a cafe and the pair link up again in scenes yet to air.

Ahead of their latest meeting, Max calls Gav and tells him he was successful in finding Bec for him.

Gav asks him to tell Bec how sorry he is and persuade her to take his calls.

Will Max do this favour for Gav, or does he have romantic feelings for Bec too?

As they continue to hang out, Max’s father David and his wife Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) start questioning him about Bec, but he remains cagey.

Coronation Street boss Iain Macleod revealed earlier this year, romance was on the cards for young Max.

“It felt important that we showed a story where someone that has gone that far down the wrong path, there is the chance to pull them back,” he said.

“And the story at its heart was supposed to be about a family dealing with how you communicate with a teenager that’s gone this far off-track, and how do you bring them back into the fold and how do you redeem them?”

Coronation Street fans will remember Max got involved in Reynolds’ (Michael Condron) extremism gang.

Griff groomed Max into thinking his friends and family didn’t love him anymore.

The extremist and his gang brainwashed Max into believing racist views which turned him against Weatherfield residents.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV and ITVX.
