Coronation Street legends real-life mum cast as part of murder plot

Corrie: Stephen Reid hallucinates Sarah’s face melting

Enid Dunn, 79, will appear in a guest role on Coronation Street later this month. She is set to play the part of housekeeper for Rufus Donahue’s (played by Owain Hughes) property when the businessman is murdered by Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce).

However, it is not the first time Enid has appeared on the long-running ITV soap.

Back in 2002, she played the part of Joan Lawson for a singular episode.

She returned four years later where she played a character credited as Old Crone.

Enid reappeared on the cobbles in 2011 as a woman who killer John Stape (Graeme Hawley) ran into in a lift.

Her final role on the ITV series drama happened 11 years ago when she played a character called Maureen Rothwell who was a bingo player.

Express.co.uk has contacted ITV for comment on Enid’s upcoming appearance on the soap.

In scenes yet to air, Rufus will be found dead in a swimming pool by Enid’s character as serial killer Stephen continues to wipe out Weatherfield residents.

It came to light Rufus would be Stephen’s next victim following the deaths of Leo Thompkins (Joe Frost) and his father Teddy Thompkins (Grant Burgin).

Stephen is set to erupt after Rufus, who knows Stephen has been drugging Carla Connor (Alison King), asks for more money.

Stephen has had his sights set on running the Underworld factor and has been wanting to oust Carla from her role.

He’s drugged her tea and been plotting to make the boss look as though her psychosis has returned in a bid to take over.

However, it all got complicated for Stephen when Rufus started blackmailing him.

Rufus ordered Stephen to end the contract with Americans Owen and Angelique or he would tell everyone about Carla being drugged.

However, Stephen won’t let anyone get in the way of what he wants and Rufus will regret ever getting involved in upcoming scenes.

Could Enid’s character be linked to Stephen or is she merely an innocent housekeeper?

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV and ITVX.
