Coronation Street star joins EastEnders to plot downfall of twisted villain

EastEnders: Lola dies

EastEnders will see a former Coronation Street star join the cast as Samantha Seager has taken on a new role.

Samantha, 48, will be playing a no-nonsense detective who makes it her mission to take down Nish Panesar (played by Navin Chowdhry).

Her character, DS Miles, is about to try and stop him in his tracks following a harrowing attack on his wife Suki (Balvinder Sopal).

Nish is likely to have plenty to be worried about when the new character arrives next week.

Samantha played Jodie Morton in Corrie back in 2007 and she will be remembered for her rivalry with Cilla Battersby (Wendi Peters).

Her new guest role in the BBC soap will span across three episodes next week.

Nish took his abuse against Suki to the next level this week when he stood over her almost lifeless body.

She was rushed to hospital but things are only set to get worse between the couple, according to the actor.

Speaking to The Mirror, he said things will turn “nuclear” when Suki’s affair with Eve Unwin (Heather Peace) comes to light.

He said: “When Nish finds out, I think it’s going to be absolutely nuclear. It’s going to be awful on so many levels.

“In his own head, he feels betrayed, cheated and lied to and humiliated. A narcissist like Nish can’t cope with that kind of stuff happening to him. I think, expect some big things if or when he comes out.”

Actress Samantha, 48, has continued to work in television and theatre since leaving Coronation Street.

In 2020 she narrated the BBC One food show, Eat Well For Less.

She also teased a different role on Instagram as she shared a photo from a table read, showing her name alongside the character name ‘Kathy Barrie’.

She said: “First read through in person for an acting job since December 2018! So chuffed.

“Can’t say what it is yet but I’m working with one of my favourite actresses of all time… and she was even more incredible in real life! Feeling very grateful right now.”

EastEnders airs on BBC One from Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm
