Kevin in Coronation Street has a lot going on in his life at the moment, and with Abi (Sally Carman) and Alfie expected to return home, he finds himself distracted from issues his son Jack is set to face.
As Abi’s good news is revealed, Jack (Kyran Bowes) is left feeling left out, but Kevin (Mike Le Vell) fails to notice.
‘He hasn’t really noticed what is going on with Jack,’ Mike Le Vell said. ‘He thinks he is still happy about Abi and Alfie coming to live with them. The real problem is that Kevin has just taken it all for granted really and is so focused on making everything perfect for them coming back.’
‘It isn’t so much that Jack doesn’t want them there, he just wants a bit of his dad’s time and attention.’ He added.
But that’s not the end of Jack’s problems.
Trouble at school is also on the cards, with Jack being reprimanded for punching a bully after being picked on for having a mechanic as a father.
‘Jack has a lot going on and Kevin is oblivious to it all. He is so excited at the thought of Abi coming home and them being a family he just hasn’t noticed.’ He continued.
However, Jack isn’t the only one with a lot going on. Kevin reaches the end of his tether after a series of stressful events, including a heated argument with his son.
‘He needs to be at Jack’s leaver’s speech day and everything comes to a head. He also has the issue with Jack playing up at school everything gets on top of Kevin and he just flips his lid.’
On filming the explosive scenes, Mike went on to say: ‘Kevin has been through so much in the past couple of years and this was just a moment of red mist, but it was great to show him reacting to everything he has gone through.’
How will Jack cope with Abi and Alfie returning, and will Kevin mend his relationship with his son?
